The Society’s third and final Gathering for 2017 was held at St Dunstan’s, Woking last Saturday (13 May) where around 50 of us gathered to begin our day with Morning Prayer.  Following the format of the two previous gatherings, Paul Inwood guided us through the document Musicam Sacram, considering its relevance 50 years on.  All the leaders then contributed to the resources session and participants were enthusiastic about trying out many of the suggestions in their own parishes.

After lunch, the group broke up for workshops – Catherine Christmas led Singing the Psalms and Paul Inwood looked at how parishes can manage with limited musical resources, while Martin Barry gave his group an energetic choral workout.

The day closed with Evening Prayer in the lovely church of St Dunstan – built only 9 years ago it is bright and airy with clean lines and very striking windows.  A beautiful medallion, depicting Christ, hangs above the Sanctuary. Fr Peter Andrews was very pleased to welcome us to St Dunstan’s and the parish team were on hand to help the day run smoothly.

And we must have done something right because a number of participants signed up on the spot for both membership and for our summer school in July!
