And if you thought Bring Flowers of the Rarest was bad...

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

And if you thought Bring Flowers of the Rarest was bad...

Post by contrabordun »

I've been asked whether I can get hold of the rest of the words and the music to

May is the month of Mary
Month we all love so well
Mary is God's own Mother
Gladly her praise we tell
Mary is beautiful
Mary is fair
Gladly we praise her
In song and in prayer.

I remember singing this in infant school but don't have a copy - if any of you do (and are prepared to admit it) a PM would be appreciated.

Bad? It's dreadful! It's like one of those modern hymns written on the back of an envelope with a tune to match and imposed on the church through a hymn book - God certainly has a sense of humour!

Yes, but it is, IMHO, a towering masterpiece compared with 'As I kneel before you'.

No – they are both dreadful.

I know it's two years later, but I'm being asked for the same thing.

Any clues (either in public or PM) most welcome.

I'm an administrator, not a musician, so not passing any judgement on the quality (or otherwise :D ) of the tune. The lyrics that I've seen so far do less than nothing for me - but it's not for me, so doesn't worry me at all.

An internet search for you resulted in a very rare (I'm on a Mac) Norton Anti-Virus message from clicking on one site that purported to possess the text. The site was blocked as it was trying to attack my computer! (My computer is now wary of over sentimental Marian devotion).

Memory is obviously very kind, because I have no recollection of whether I actually found it or not, although on checking my PM's, I find that "organist" offered to sing it for me... I'll have a look round in church tonight before choir practice.
