The singing community

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

The singing community

Post by Merseysider »

Must stress this is definitely NOT an SSG event but might be of interest to people in the North West.

Two days for parish musicians organised by the Liverpool Archdiocese Liturgy Commission.

Saturday 20th May
The Gibberd Room.
Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King,
Mount Pleasant, Liverpool

Sunday 2nd July
St Marie’s Church,
Almond Brook Road, Standish

The first session (in Liverpool) looks at some of the basics: Gospel greetings and Eucharistic Acclamation and how to get people to sing them.

The second (in Standish) considers, psalms, communion songs and litanies (including the Lamb of God).

A third session in September (date and venue to be confirmed) will look at songs and hymns for general use.

Course leaders are John Southworth and Nick Baty.

Each session costs £4.

In reply to a couple of private messages, yes, this event is open to everyone, not just people within the archdiocese.
