Organ Wanted

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Organ Wanted

Post by presbyter »

If anyone can offer a bankrupt inner city parish an organ for next to nothing - please tell me!

(And to think - there are Rieger and Tambourini instruments in our churches not too far away...... sigh)

Artificial Organ transplant

Presumably you are looking for something pipey, and one of those newfangled elastic-driven Bontempis with all the electronical buttons would not do? I hear they are all the rage amongst the swinging hep cats.

Should you NOT be looking for something physically pipey but which is virtually all but indistinguishable from same, then Copeman-Hart are the chaps for you. We replaced our west gallery 2 manual wind-driven job in 1997 with a three-manual CH. We're well chuffed with it as are visiting recitalists.

You're all more than welcome to come down to Sunny Abergavenny and give it a whirl. Let me know when you're coming and I'll put the kettle on.

Ah yes - Copeman-Hart .... very good reputation in the digital organ world ......

Please note the word "bankrupt" in my post above. So what would even a small two manual C-H cost these days?

Thou shalt not cover thy neighbour's goods - sigh

The church is now just a Mass centre and this delightful chest of whistles doesn't get much use.

Give them an inch...

 I say, steady on chaps, this is unseemly behaviour, especially in the current liturgical season. OK so I have introduced you to the garden of temptatious delights that is ebay, but in the cold hard reality of Presbyter's parish financial status you might want to reconsider my original option, or something similarly honest, and spend the filthy lucre you don't have on something more worthwhile  . Poverty is a blessing; I don't know about chutzpah...

Have you tried the Redundant Organ Rehousing Company?

http://www.rorcl.co.uk/

They don't seem to be posting their 'catalogue' online these days, but when they did, they usually had a few late Victorian 2 manual 10 stops efforts in fair nick.

The usual problem applies - you get the organ for a song, but have to pay to move it.

I suppose moving the Rieger from Walsall is out of the question?

Is coveting your neighbour's organ on a par with coveting his ass?

I'd stay well away from your neighbour's ass if it's voiced on very high wind pressure

Steady, boys.

We are in danger of getting off topic here, and I am sure there are some useful points yet to be made.
