New Bishop for East Anglia

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

New Bishop for East Anglia

Post by keitha »

Bishop Alan Hopes, the fourth Bishop of East Anglia, has retired, and Pope Francis has appointed the Canon Peter Collins, a priest of the Archdiocese of Cardiff, as his successor.

Bishop Alan has been the Chair of the Liturgy Committee of the Department for Life & Worship for many years, predating his time at East Anglia. He may continue in that role, at least for a while. If not, it will be interesting to see who replaces him in it. In any event, very best wishes to Bishop Alan for his retirement - which won't really start until Canon Peter has been ordained Bishop and installed in December (Bishop Alan is Administrator of the Diocese until then), and thanks for all his work. Also, all good wishes to Canon Peter.
