'Cursed' Cross

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

'Cursed' Cross

Post by VML »

Please can someone enlighten me as to the acceptability of 'cursed tree' as applied to the cross in a Hillsong 'song' we are asked to learn for Easter Sunday Mass. On Good Friday we adore the Holy Cross, and venerate it. Is 'cursed' reasonable?

Christ became a curse for us, according to Galatians 3:13... and any gallows tree was intrinsically cursed. I think it's fair. All our curses were hung upon that Cross. So it's the most cursed Cross I could ever contemplate! But I've got no problem venerating a cursed Cross, since every time I receive Holy Communion I am receiving a cursed Christ! His blessing overpowers the negative!
