SSG Spring Workshop Day - 11 March 2017

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

SSG Spring Workshop Day - 11 March 2017

Post by MaryR »

The first of our Spring Gatherings for 2017 is taking place on Saturday, 11 March at St Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Blair Avenue, Ingleby Barwick, Stockton-on-Tees TS17 0QP

As 2017 is the 50th Anniversary of Musicam Sacram, there will be a particular focus on music at this year’s gatherings. All are welcome, whether members or not, particularly anyone involved in parish music ministry: singers, musicians, cantors and choir leaders.

The day will begin at 10.00 am with registration and Morning Prayer. Our speaker, Martin Barry (Choirmaster and Directorof Music at Salford Cathedral), will look at how parish music has evolved in the 50 years since Musicam Sacram and there will be a sing through session of mass settings and other resources for parishes. Practical workshops for musicians and singers will take place during the afternoon and the day will end with Evening Prayer at 3.30 pm. Leaders include Dr Craig Cartwright, Assistant Director of Music at Middlesborough Cathedral and Stephen Maltby, Organist, Choral and Orchestral Conductor, Keyboard teacher and Examiner.

The cost is £10 per person (bring your own packed lunch). More information is available on the website here where you can also book online, or email bookings@ssg.org.uk.

Two further days have been arranged at Brentwood Cathedral (22 April 2017) and St Dunstan's, Woking (13 May 2017). Further details will be posted soon.
