Episcopal ordination

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Episcopal ordination

Wonderful to see a Bishop talking in his ordination booklet about the music he chose for his ordination (see page 6.)

Quite a varied selection of music - with the added bonus that it appears that you can join in from the comfort of your own house/ office as it is being live streamed on the web according to the Diocese website. I have downloaded Order of service and am ready to tune in tommorow!

Good to see. But can anyone explain the choice of O purest of creatures at the offertory?

This is a very large file (33MB) and takes an age to download. You might have better luck here:

A nice mix of music. Curious to note how little the words of scripture feature in the songs at the entrance/offertory/communion, compared with the words of Victorian poetry. (Only "Like the Deer" in the whole Mass?) Plainly this Bishop(-elect) takes a liberal view of the suitability of a song from another collection at these points.

It's now 1320 and the expected live streaming does not appear to be happening. Help anyone?

Look in the Ordo - Our Lady of Walsingham - today's feast.

Cannot get the sound loud enough and the picture is pretty odd too!

And now we have an empty sanctuary and organ music! Why no cheering crowds?

For creatures such as myself who got as far as the Taizé Laudate Dominum but who then had to leave and do other things - could someone please point us to a link where a recording might be viewed?
Thank you.

Well I sat through the whole thing and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd welcome some advice on what the legal/copyright implications are for live feed transmissions as our cathedral may have this facility when we re-open.

Huge congratulations to SSG members Paul, Catherine and great organ playing. I particularly enjoyed the 'Millenium', Westminster carillon reference in the extended improvisation before it all finally got going. It was good to hear the Dupre Marian piece at the end also.

Hope the 'do' was also good. You've earned that and more!

No, still don't quite understand. We offer gifts to the Lord while singing to (rather than about) someone else?

Often the GR has the text 'Ave Maria' (or similar) set for the offertory text to the BVM for Marian feasts.

See GIRM 74 - referring to GIRM 48 - and the option for a song appropriate to the day.
