hymn tune

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

hymn tune

Post by Psalm Project »

Hi All
Does anyone know of a hymn titled
"Our lady of Medjugorje"
I think the lyrics are:

We come to you, dearest Mother,
from all quarters, from all nations;
bringing to you all our troubles
ardent wishes, aspirations.

Look upon us and console us,
lay your gentle hands upon us;
intercede with Jesus for us,
Mother of Peace, do pray for us.

All the faithful look up to you,
you the lodestar of salvation;
cleanse, embrace us, we pray to you,
bless all in the congregation.

Bijakovo, Medjugorje,
little hamlets spread the story,
bearing witness to your beauty
to your name and to your glory.

For all your love, dearest Mother
all the wonders that we have seen,
we give to you solemn promise
to be better than we have been.

a midi file or pdf would be welcome - I need it for a funeral tomorrow! otherwise the family bring a 'boom box' with a recording!

You could try this page - the hymn is at the bottom the the page, with a link to an mp3 file. I'm not in a position to transcribe it at the moment, but you will doubtless be able to do that yourself. I hope this helps you avoid the boom box!

Not quite. It will depend on where the stresses come. Tallis's Canon, for example, would not work at all. :)

Good point, SC - my Laudate metrical index is annotated to show which tunes have an anacrusis (or should that be "Havana Nacrusis"?)

Thanks to all for replies.
We avoided the boom box!
Funeral undertakers advised family to play the song (CD) at the crematorium.
I could have transcribed the music but, then to fit it to the English words... goodness... How many extra hours is one expected to work for services (usually gratis)... and I doubt the time required would ever even get acknowledged!
