What is the Lenten Gospel Acclamation in the new translation of the Mass?

Gwyn - your are confusing the Missal with the Lectionary. The Lectionary revision is not yet complete. Stick with what we have.

I was thinking more along the lines of what would replace the pre Gospel "Alleluia" during Lent. Currently my missal gives "Glory to you, O Christ, you are the word of God."

What you say makes complete sense.

You will find plenty of alternatives in hymn books, with all sorts of verses too.

If it helps, the Guide for Composers, issued by the Department for Christian Life and Worship (para 65) gives the same texts to replace 'Alleluia' as we are currently using, i.e.:

"During Lent when the Alleluia is not sung one of the following texts is used either as given or adapted (my italics):

Glory and praise to you, O Christ!

Glory to you, O Christ, you are the Word of God!

Praise and honour to you, Lord Jesus!

Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory!"

I'm about to set them now. I don't know what the 'or adapted' means, so I'll just stick to the given texts!

There used to be eight of these acclamations and now just four but I don't suppose God would mind too much if we used the old translation of these Lectionary texts. For my part I also have set the given texts (unadapted!).

i have a setting with

Glory and praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Is that an adaptation?

I presume the Composer's Guide says 'or adapted' because the Lectionary says' one or other of the following phrases may be used, or another similar phrase'.

The Latin Lectionary Ordo gives 8 short Latin acclamations.
