The New Texts: Events for Parish Musicians (announcements)

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

The New Texts: Events for Parish Musicians (announcements)

Post by musicus »

Please use this thread to post details of any events that might be arranged for parish musicians.

Please give full details and a contact (even if it's just a PM link).

Above all, try to convey very clearly what the nature of the event will be.

If anyone is thinking of attending any of these events, I would advise them to contact the organisers before travelling any great distance.

Unless it explicitly says so, none of these events is endorsed by the SSG; this thread is merely offered as an information service.

This thread is for event details ONLY. Use the New Texts: Formation (discussion) thread to discuss them.
Any discussion posted on this thread may be removed without warning.

A week on and nothing.
Obviously, our dioceses are doing *beep* all.
If anyone else in striking distance of the North West fancies getting together to do something please PM me.
We can't just sit back and let nothing happen.

(And why on earth has b-u-g-g-e-r a-l-l" been bleeped?
This is madness!)

And, I am reliably informed, an event planned for the North West might take place at more than one point along the M62!

There has been a vague reference to something possibly taking place in Canterbury for those of us in deepest Kent. Is this one of the events that SC referred to earlier? Has anyone heard anything more specific?

There will be events in Birmingham Archdiocese too but not in March ....... more May, June, July when the diocesan Liturgy & Music committee has had a chance to assess (about to be - ) published repertoire. May I ask what repertoire is going to be introduced in March? I think I might like to drive up the M1 and experience it first hand.

I was told the same over a post-choral drink last night by one of those involved in getting this up and running for Southwark. No date as yet.

Recording of Philip Jakob's New Wine Mass
In the Memorial Chapel of Mount St Mary's College, Spinkhill, Derbyshire on Thursday 16 June with SATB Choir and instrumentalists from the Mount, and singers from the primary school federation of St Marie, St Wilfrid and OL & St Thomas. Plans are afoot to secure the priestly vocal skills of Fr Bill Bergin of Retford.

This will be placed on the Diocesan website to facilitate the Diocese in the learning of the music.

Mass for the Year of Education
1000 on 23 June 2011 in Cathedral Church of St Marie with Bishop John and the Federation of primary schools of St Marie, St Wilfrid and OL & St Thomas. The Mass Ordinary will be Philip Jakob's 'New Wine Mass'

A further Mass to celebrate the Year of education is being planned for November in Doncaster

All these occasions provide a focus for the formation and engagement of the people of Hallam in the revised translation of the Roman Missal.
