Re: Hymnbook recommendations?
Nick, only the choir has them and I don't think that we will get pew editions.

Re: Hymnbook recommendations?
We too use Celebration Hymnal for Everyone. New pp asked me to look at Laudate as used in his last parish but I didn't think it was as user friendly and found several hymns completely unrecognisable from the versions I've sung by rote for years due to being degenderised and all references to power a...

Re: Happy Advent
Of topic (sorry) I was told by previous pp that we were no longer allowed to sing anything that had the word Yahweh in, can't remember the reason though.

Re: Happy Advent
We sang 'Christ Circle Round Us' as a communion processional, commencing when the servers started receiving communion, with the choir and organist receiving communion last instead of first; we intend to rotate this and one other over the Sundays of Advent. I'm hoping the congregation will have picke...

Re: Procrastination
We were definitely told that we could continue to sing the old settings at a recent diocesan training day, and I have read it on one of the threads on here too.

Re: What's going well?
We sang the Missal chant Glory to God, Holy, Holy and Lamb of God today, unaccompanied. Didn't run through with the congregation before Mass as most arrive last minute so were not enough there to make it worth while; no sheets were provided for them. I could hear many hesitantly singing along, more ...

Re: The Trouble with Communion Processionals and beyond…
When the piece sung at Communion is just the choir our very small choir of 7 goes to receive one at a time with the assembly; we are situated in the body of the church close to the sanctuary. Most Sundays the organist plays a piece of suitable music over the assemblies procession then there is a hym...

Re: GIRM - Preferences when options are available
1) The Faithful are to rise as the celebrant says “Pray, brethren (brothers and sisters), that my sacrifice and yours……”. They are to remain standing until the end of the “Holy, Holy……”. They are to kneel through the rest of the Eucharistic Prayer as is the established custom in Scotland; following...

Re: What's going well?
We have yet to sing any of the new Mass settings. I have, so far, taught the choir the Missal chants, parts of the Belmont Mass and some of Nick Baty's acclamations in anticipation of being instructed to do so. The congregation are mostly glued to their Mass sheets but there are still a few saying &...

Re: Future of this Forum - for AGM on Saturday
I am not a member of SSG (though I have considered joining) but have been a 'watcher' on this forum for some time. It would be a shame if it closed down completely as I have learned a great deal over the time I have been looking at it, often with frustration when I see all the things that are happen...

Re: What's going well?
I agree with JW was an excellent day. I did hear a couple of grumbles that it was too 'happy clappy' but I'm in a very traditional parish and didn't think so. Was good to meet you JW if only briefly.
