Re: First communion music

:( It is truly horrible when no-one sings. It throws me at funerals. But having people behave as your congregation did seems to be part of FHC these days. It has happened in our church, at FHC and also a few weddings. Seasonal/ feast day music is, quite reasonably, of the day or the season, so not m...

Re: I enjoyed that!

You are right HP. It disturbed me when our Confirmation Mass booklets used to have a welcome note at the front 'We hope you enjoy our Mass.' I hated it and managed to get it dropped. Truly not the point.

Re: First communion music

I know our FHC Masses are looming- we need two weeks to cover the number of children. We used to sing the psalm every week. Now it is hit and miss on alternate Sundays when the other music leader is in charge, and for FHC I know I will be told that the children are reading it, as well as the Allelui...

Re: Confirmation Mass

I have now clarified with the diocese that our bishop does prefer readings of the day, as we have had for the last six years. Actually, the story of Tobit is a good yarn about acceptance, -so long as we have a good reader...... Thank you for your help, especially mob, who in an earlier post pointed ...

Confirmation Mass

I am looking for guidance on planning a Confirmation Mass in the light of whatever changes have happened in the last two or three years. We will sing the Gloria, and the Mass. But will the Mass be the Mass of the day, which will be Tuesday week 9 OT, so a first reading about Tobit taking a bath and ...

Re: International Hymn Choices

A friend of ours is of Church of Ireland stock. She went over after many years away, and played for a relative's funeral. She was most surprised that they simply did not know Crimond. I believe it was little known in UK until the Queen chose it for her wedding in 1947.

Re: Offertory hymns

Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord to thee, to the tune 'Mozart', not the 40 days and 40 nights dirge.
