Christmas Greetings
We wish all of our readers, participators and SSG members a very happy and holy Christmas. We hope all your liturgies have gone well and that once they have all finished you all get the chance to have a bit of well-earned rest before the New Year!

We are drifting off topic here. Can we please return to discussing the Choral Director post itself.

NOTE FROM MODERATOR
I have moved a number of posts to a new thread ("Parish Music in an age of dwindling resources") as they have formed a new topic of their own. This topic can then return to "Liturgical Tourism".

Re: Mass setting by Gordon Rock/other Masses
We are now drifting away from the topic and focusing on ICEL's rights to copyright. If we wish to continue in that vein could we please have a new thread or 'revive' an older one so that the topic is not 'buried' in the Gordon Rock thread.

Re: New look website
My understanding is that this is because of the number and resolutions of the photographs on the site. It is being looked into. After the first login it should load much faster on subsequent visits as it will most likely have been cached on your computer. A huge amount of intensive testing was done ...

Re: Music Animator required
I have let this run for a bit as there have been plenty of interesting and useful postings, however we've not have much about Music Animation for a while. Can we please return to the topic now. If you wish to continue with the guitar/organ/keyboard debate please either start a new thread or PM me to...

Sir James MacMillan
This is just a note to congratulate and give our good wishes to Catholic composer James MacMillan, who was awarded a Knighthood in today's birthday honours. It was also good to see that Karl Jenkins (whose motet "Ave Maria" was sung at our annual Mass at the AGM in November) was also award...

Gregorian Chant - Conciliar/Post-conciliar Documents
On another thread Tom_Neal wrote: "I expressed a concern that the Society of St. Gregory––which, after all, is named after the originator and codifier of Western liturgical chant (hence the term ‘Gregorian’ chant)––is apparently doing nothing to promote the singing of plainchant, despite the fa...

Singing the 'Proper' of the Mass in the Ordinary Form
In another thread, Tom_Neal wrote: " The Proper of the Mass must always be said or sung, in English or Latin. The Entrance Antiphon, Alleluia verse, Offertory Antiphon, and Communion Antiphon are essential components of the liturgy. If you’re going to replace the Entrance Antiphon with a hymn, ...

Re: Robert Cardinal Sarah's message to 'Sacra Liturgia' 2015
Could we please "cool it" a bit here. Whilst I have seen relatively rare examples of extreme intolerance at both ends of the spectrum, my experience has been that the vast majority of the devotees of, on the one hand, the Ordinary Form and, on the other, the Extraordinary Form, are reasona...

Re: Music and Liturgy: Letter to the Editor
I locked this topic at this point (as it began to cover too many separate topics) and split its continuance out into separate threads to make it easier to follow and to contribute. Please, however, try to keep postings reasonably concise!
