I agree Alan. In our parish, young people from 5 - 18 lead the music once a month. They choose the music based on readings and have asked to learn a variety of music and hymns. Last week, there was a tantrum from two 8 year olds who wanted to sing Sweet Sacrament Divine rather than This is My Body. ...
I really could do with some prayers here because I am being told I have to have hymns to Mary at every mass and it has to be at the offertory collection time because and I quote " the 'female' church presents the offertory gifts to the 'male' preserve of the Sanctuary and altar." This is t...
I really love the readings and psalms we use in our Tenebrae service. PM me with your contact details and I will see if I can send you copies of our order of Service.
Thank you Phil and JW, I read the previous thread and as well as learning Armenian, I think i have the gist. In our parish, where there is no baptism but the water which is blessed ( some is used for the sprinkling) is transferred to the font for use at baptisms throughout the year, the litany shoul...
Forgive me for asking what may be a stupid question but are the litany of Saints sung always at the vigil or just when there is a baptism? I have been told conflicting things. Thanks for the help.
I wish my PP would read instructions in the missal as I love all the readings and the psalms but unfortunately he insists that it must be short even though we have no baptisms. He did leave the choice of readings to me so "forgetting" that the new testament reading doesn't count in the fou...
I really love all the readings for the Easter vigil and the psalms so how do people choose which ones to use if they can only have 4? Which ones do you use?
Among the many changes introduced into our parish recently our parish priest is trying to encourage people to return to the roots of their faith and would like to see more adoration and people going to confession. Great in principle except we now have adoration before masses and he has invited pries...
Hark the Herald it is ! Thank you. And thank you Peter for your generous analysis of why our PP doesn't like Joy to the World. He thinks people don't know it even though they have sung it happily for the last four years, which I guess is reason to change it. I wasn't sure what works as a rousing rec...
I sympathise with you Oops as this Sunday, our head teacher turned up with children, who read all the readings including the psalm which we had practised and it appears that this will now be a regular occurence on the first and third Sunday of each month. Great Initiative. Its just no=one told the o...
Thanks to our new parish priest I have to re-think our Midnight Mass this year - not all the changes will be bad but I am really stuck with what to sing at the end instead of Joy to the World which for some reason he thinks is too difficult - what is everyone else singing ?
Hare - The planners are now being sent out by email if you contact Nick on the address above I am sure he will add you to the list. The events normally finish around 4pm
