Have we gone wildly off-topic with this thread? TT. Good Morning All Though obviously picking up themes from other threads I think issues raised are central to some understanding of a core repertoire. Though not listed as a specific section - parts of the Mass are 'core' core repertoire. I think a ...

Picking up some of the issues raised here I would welcome some reactions/ reflections on changing texts - particularly Psalms and Mass texts. Why change the text in first place? What do people see as legitimate adaptation - when does it become paraphrase? My reason for asking is that it would be hel...

Psalms for Evening Prayer

I have been working on the completion of a resource for Sunday Evening Prayer. For each psalm text it is intended to identify other settings. I understand that The Sign we Give will soon be available on the Bishops' Conference website as will The Priority of Adult Formation.

It is part of the reason for the development of the Calendar part of the Liturgy Office website - though details of OT weekdays and Proper of Saints is def...

Dear Tsume Thanks for the comments. To answer your questions and then think aloud about repertoire a bit more. I realise now that you are also asking whether there are other texts which should be considered 'core'. So, the idea is that, if we think of any other texts, we should notify you of these, ...

The purpose is (I think) three-fold: to identify settings; to encourage composers; to evaluate what might be a priority. To illustrate the last point - the 4 Sequences make a distinction between 2 which are obligatory (Easter & Pentecost) and 2 which are optional (Corpus Christi & Our Lady o...
