Re: Paschale Solemnitas
Interesting. We had three voices and "no joining in" - except they DID (my rubric on the service sheet was too subtle!). As you say, though, the new missals have the Crowd indications, which hardly helped.

Yes - I strongly agree with this. (But try the McElligott Fund too!!)

Re: Palm Sunday for guitars and flute
It is very much my hope to attend the Summer School; but (a) I am not yet a paid-up member of SSG, and (b) I am presently unemployed and the fees are not insignificant!!! The SSG's McElligott Fund may be able to help here. I would suggest that you contact the Summer School team (see the main SSG we...

Re: Printing out words....! (of Mass Parts!)
Perhaps I confused things by giving a musical example. I will edit my post to remove that portion (in parentheses). Having done that, I stand by my post (which was intended to discuss the text, not the music).

Re: Printing out words....! (of Mass Parts!)
The question is: if words in the ICEL text are repeated to fit a musical setting do they remain ICEL's property or does the copyright then belong to the composer who made the adaptation to fit his/her music? No, you can't appropriate someone's copyright by mere repetition (or alteration). It was th...

Re: Our new cardinal
Thanks, organist . I watched the first of the two Vatican celebrations live and the second (the Mass) on YouTube, and the Westminster choir was excellent. It was especially good to hear Stanford's Beati quorum via from St Peter's, especially since we used it at the Newman Mass at Cofton Park in 2010...

Re: Ordering of options in GIRM
I, too, believe that the order is not significant. I have more than once, here and elsewhere, seen Southern Comfort argue thus - but I don't have time to search out the evidence right now. Of course, the words have to be in some order anyway. How would you order them to express (a) significance or (...

Re: Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral
For all that, this is a significant position (in a time when other establishments are de-professionalising - e.g. Llandaff Cathedral) and deserves our support. Please draw it to the attention of any possible interested parties.

Thank you, JW and SC. As I suspected, the legal situation is ambiguous, but I know how to proceed now.

Quite, Alan.
Perhaps your PP thought he was doing you a favour, oops. I'd like to think that if you were to protest he'd recognise his presumption. But then again...
As Alan says, there is no way at all in which his "promise" is binding on you.

Re: Canticles
I have now completed the Magnificat and the Nunc Dimittis. One final question: are these Book of Common Prayer texts in copyright? I had thought that with them being from 1662 I would be safe, but I took them from Common Worship and I'm not sure about that.

Re: Print Reproduction
It seems to me, Gwyn, that you need another Risograph! It may not be as advanced as a modern photocopier, but it could be more flexible, especially with regard to page sizes. I have used both technologies, and it's horses for courses. Either way, I would always go for a leasing arrangement rather th...
