Re: PANEL decisions

Should any forthcoming collection of music for the Mass also contain settings of other, non-Missal texts (e.g. hymns), these texts do indeed need a Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur. .................. I have it on good authority that a publisher based in Stowmarket is about to take first steps through t...

Should any forthcoming collection of music for the Mass also contain settings of other, non-Missal texts (e.g. hymns), these texts do indeed need a Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur. Given the canonical residential requirement of obtaining such permissions, it would help matters along if someone with the ...

Re: New Lectionary

Am I correct in assuming that there is no Roman Catholic dimension within the group of copyright holders of the text of the NRSV? The New Revised Standard Version, copyright 1989, 1995 by the Division of Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of Am...

Is there not a debate going on about inclusive language? Or has this matter been resolved?

Re: The Graduale Parvum (Continuum)

Read Celebrating the Mass and I think one could be forgiven for thinking that our Bishops are rather mean in their approach as to what a choir may sing on its own. Their overview seems more narrow, even more proscriptive, than that taken in GIRM and SC.

Re: New Lectionary

Yes, the future refrains will also come from the revised Grail, assuming that this is approved for use. More work for the Permission to Publish Panel then. I wonder how much latitude will be allowed regarding modification/adaptation of texts. Will we be forced to sing "Preserve me, God......&q...

Re: New Lectionary

What on earth are we ordinary folks supposed to conclude from that meaningless pseudo-statement? Just tell us what your'e actually saying1 Will this do for a start Q? 37. If the biblical translation from which the Lectionary is composed exhibits readings that differ from those set forth in the Lati...

Re: New Lectionary

A new publication of the Lectionary is in preparation. The selection of readings will remain the same but the text will be drawn from the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible and the Grail Psalter. Both of these translations however have to be considered in the light of Liturgiam Authenticam. ...

quaero, quaerere, quaesivi, quaesitus: - search for, seek, strive for; obtain; ask, inquire, demand; Psalm 73 NRSV has : 22 Rise up, O God, plead your cause; remember how the impious scoff at you all day long. 23 Do not forget the clamour of your foes, the uproar of your adversaries that goes up con...

Yes - on both sides of the Atlantic

And what is the point of listing approved settings on the Liturgy Office site?

Not a lot, in my opinion - see Panel Decisions thread

Re: The Graduale Parvum (Continuum)

As for singing the propers, have we ever? Making a guesstimate of your age NB, you might have early childhood memories of your parish/cathedral choir doing just that and in Latin too. Perhaps when our first steps into the vernacular were being taken, you might have heard your parish choir singing f...

Not by Decani. I think the arrangement will be as it is now. Decani will be the UK agent for OCP octavos.

Re: Peter Jones' Coventry Gloria

I would have expected all the settings contained in the collection listed on the Liturgy Office website. For example, settings by Christopher Walker and Stephen Dean are listed but none by Peter Jones, not even the Coventry Gloria. I'm intrigued? A thought - As an octavo edition , the work in quest...

Re: PANEL decisions

Presumably the PANEL, as the copyright agents for ICEL in this country Really? I very much doubt that this is the case. The Panel are acting on behalf of the Bishop's Conference, not on behalf of ICEL. If they were acting on behalf of ICEL, it would not be necessary additionally to submit "app...
