Re: God's Spirit is in my heart

And does anyone sing the rhythm as written at the end of the verse?

Re: Music for weddings

I would recommend two further unpublished texts from John Bell written for the wedding of Alison Adam and Martyn Coe a few years ago on the Feast of the Holy Innocents! 'Within the purposes of heaven' is intended for the melody of 'Dear Lord and Father of mankind'. 'As two are wed' goes nicely to th...

Re: Music for weddings

This could be very useful. Do you intend to copyright the pages or can we install this kind of thing on Diocesan/parish websites?

Re: Are we Pentecost or are we First HC?

We have the same here but it's really Pentecost regardless. there's enough oddity introduced over dressing up etc so I'll be using Like as the hart (Howells) for the communion procession and, unusually for this Mass, deploying Bernadette Farrell's 'God's greatest Gift' as a thanksgiving. this is wel...

Re: Papal Visit

I share your concerns about the awareness of James MacMillan. Did he ever compose a Gloria for that Mass? I do however enjoy singing the St Anne Sanctus despite its regional flavour which, like other idiosyncracies elsewhere, congregations tend to iron out. I wonder what the compositional brief to J...

Re: New texts (Mass, Lectionary, psalms, musical settings etc)

ICEL own the text of these translations so I presume it would fall to ICEL, or some other authorised body, to ensure that its text, the official text for the Roman Missal, is adhered to. I am no expert but I can't see clearly how knowledge of GIRM would affect settings of the revised translations an...

Re: New Mass settings

It might however be a strategic plan to start using any movements (Lord have mercy and Lamb of God) in which there are no text changes from what is already prescribed in the current Missal. This would make eventual implementation a less tortuous process. It would however be important to check that t...

Re: How low is your Low Sunday?

Everything 'as normal' at St Marie's ... Sung Morning Prayer, Morning Mass with Choir and Evening Mass with Music Group.
I would say that I managed a 'high' throughout but it may be that the intervening 'low' week was responsible for this energy!

I have just had a brief look at ICEL's website and cannot be alone in being baffled by the number of incorrect spellings, not to mention rather quaint English employed therein. I am sure that greater care will have been given to the translations! One might have expected the writer(s) to be able to s...

Re: Easter Vigil Timing

Our Vigil started at 9pm and after 3 baptisms (complete with one paddling bishop), one reception and 11 confirmations we finished the liturgical celebrations at about 1215. The further celebrations continued a while longer! It was exciting. At one point the bishop urged folk to be careful since ther...

Re: It must be Easter ......

I am sitting supping my wine after as demanding a few weeks as many of you will have experienced. It is indeed a shame when one's aspirations are flattened and inspired talents and advice ignored. It is good however to read sound advice and compassion here. But I have read that Leeds Diocese boasts ...

Re: Epiphany in Spain

Can't answer your question but I recall being in Gran canaria one Epiphany while recuperating from a gall bladder operation ... too much information? I went to Mass at a recently built church. There is a significant German community there and they installed a fine mechanical action organ which i pla...
