Re: The complete & utter disorganisation of the Liturgy Offi

Why does there have to be a personal attack on a composer? The point NT is making sounds valid and is obviously frustrating but for a response to name an American composer just seems to be either shockingly petty or jealous. No doubt this thread will be pulled which would be a shame as it could have...

Re: First Mass in new translation: so how was it?

You have to keep an eye on him Musicus! Well, last week we all did really well by reading the missalette however this week some confidence was creeping in and that is when the ones reading the missalette had to speak a bit louder!!! The Lord I am Not Worthy is the real stumble at the moment, at leas...

Dom Perignan could use the last picture as an avatar!!

To put this back on topic - I am offering this as a suggestion!

Re: Marty Haugen at Summer School

I have no idea what most of this thread is about but in an attempt to bring this thread back on topic - I always enjoy Marty's workshops and find him to be a deeply spiritual person. Don't like every single piece he has ever written, nothing I hate but like some things better than other. As a member...

Re: Summer School

I was in Alan Griffith's workshop and feel so much more positive about the changes.

Last year I really got into the new responses, this year I felt I was mostly saying "and also . withyour spirit".

Eastern Promise, which workshops/seminars did you enjoy? Tell us more.

Re: Summer School

Oh no, another thread that has gone off topic. Keep on about Summer School - I thoroughly enjoyed it this year and was surprised by some of the comments at the closing plenary session so would like to hear more from some of those who were underwhelmed by this year's school. We all go with our own ag...

Re: Summer School

Adding my thanks and appreciation to the organisors for another good Summer School. Ditchingham is compact so there was very little dashing from one event to another.

Special thanks to Mary for all her hard work and I hope she is managing to get some rest.

Re: How many ways can you handle a purificator?

I was taught the way SC describes and am surprised that some ministers are able to go through a Sunday Mass without even opening up the purificator.

Ah well, just shows the difference in training for these things.

Re: summer school

I enjoyed the summer school and only sorry I did not have chance to go into Whitby. Enjoyed where we were though and the company was very good. As usual, the final concert was very entertaining. One downside, at Mass on Sunday I stopped the first time we all said "and also ..." erm, and wo...

Re: Why Bother?

Sorry to hear that Mancunian but happy to see some good advice being given on this thread.

I am beginning to feel sorry for the youth who are currently going to church as so very much is being laid on their shoulders. They are the future but it seems some people want no-one else to be the present.

Re: It must be Easter ......

Hi Oops, what kind of music does your friend like? Any chance you can lure her to your church if she is only there for the music?

Sounds as if things improved as time went on and it is probably your influence that had the psalm sung at all.

Re: And now they want to sing Gospel......

Ooops, it sounds as if you are doing a good job as you are and have settled into a routine. In some ways it is good people are coming up and suggesting things to you instead of just moaning about you behind your back. You would try telling them you need a much bigger choir and at least one very good...

Re: What if we just said, 'wait'

How "awful" would it be to have a mix of Latin and English? The mea culpa is used outside the Mass, I have heard it in meetings when someone is owning up to being at fault. In Christmas carols we mix in phrases such as Gloria in Excelsis Deo alongside English words. No doubt the purists wi...

Re: The disaster that is Christmas

I saw a Christmas tree all decorated and lit up in someone's house as I was driving home this evening. The outside santa lights have been up for about a week on another house but the sight of the Christmas tree in someone's lounge just seemed quite sad. I don't even put out my crib until after Midni...
