Re: God bids us welcome . . .
The refrain and first verse appear in Repetoire Multilingue from Lourdes as Dieu Nous Accueille En Sa Maison. There it says that the French text and music for the verses were written by Jean-Paul Lecot, with the music for the refrain by Palestrina. I'm not sure whether this was an original work or a...

Re: Managing a Liturgical Procession
I assume you are excluding Lourdes where they have the advantage of loud speakers along the processional route. We gave up on trying to sing in procession some years ago (and we could only process from outside the church to inside anyway). On Palm Sunday the cantor and choir lead the procession and ...

Re: Lord Jesus, think on me
I would find it very strange to sing this without the minims at the beginning of each line. Not that we sing it very often.

Not in my experience.

Re: Celtic
To be fair, all the notes are present in the Repetoire Multilingue which is used for the ceremonies in Lourdes and Arno tries really hard to make sure that all nationalities sing the correct notes in the choir. So the errors coming out of Lourdes are probably caused by people mis-hearing. I don't re...

Both the music and a recording of the Lourdes 2008 Mass are available from the Librarie in the Sanctuaries. Website: http://www.lourdes-editions.com/
Alternatively, you could ask someone who is going on Pilgrimage from your area to pick them up. Most of the British Pilgrmages will be going out in the next few weeks.

New Priest's first Easter (and only but that's another story) in the Parish. Holy Thursday and half way through Mass the organ develops a cypher during gospel Procession. Organ is switch off and during the Homily 3 members of the choir make a dignified procession roung the back of our semi circular ...

Re: Ding Dong Merrily on high - need pronunciation help
Interestingly, having been brought up C of E and then singing in an ecumenical chapel choir before converting to Catholicism, I have never heard Deity pronounced anything other than Day-ity. I also noticed a tendancy though to call various canticles by an anglicised title (including tedium) although...

Re: Youth Sunday 2008
Youth Sunday on the feast of Christ the King is even more of an issue when you are the parish of Christ the King. Fortunately, I have won the battles so far in saying that in our parish Christ the King has to take precidence.
