Re: Future of this Forum - for AGM on Saturday

Keith, obviously there cannot be a formal discussion about this forum at the AGM but there should at least be some informal chit chat and any trustee there will be able to pass on views at the next meeting.

This thread has brought us back together!

Re: What's going well?

At the music day held in Salford yesterday it was interesting to hear that choirs/music groups can carry on singing the 'old' music while they are learning the new. This is a period of transition, we are not banned from singing what we have been doing. We had been singing the Belmont Mass and it has...

Re: Future of this Forum - for AGM on Saturday

FTP, you probably would get a lot out of the Music and Liturgy journal and Summer School is just wonderful. Pretty sure by going to the home page you can ask for a sample edition to be sent out to you. However, back to the topic. Perhaps it is the registration process that needs to be tighter - real...

Re: What's going well?

I am glad to hear the priests singing more. Sometimes it can be a bit ropey but I applaud them for singing it anyway. Nick seems to be amazed that the Alleluia is not sung every time - in my experience it is very rarely sung outside of the Sunday Mass with the choir there. Worse than that, the reade...

Re: Future of this Forum - for AGM on Saturday

I really do not want this forum to be shut down as it is the only Catholic/Christian/Religious forum that I follow. I am a member and will be at the AGM next week so have a week to think about this proposal. The humour has been absent from this forum for quite some time. The pseudonyms started as a ...

Re: Post-Conciliar discontinuity

Hopefully not, GF. I was born early 50s so I remember pre Vatican II and used to sing in a good choir with my mum. Thing is, to me the things we were singing, Palestrina, Vittoria, Britten Masses were just good music. Learning the changes in English brought the Mass alive for me, it was no longer a ...

Re: David Haas

Why do so many threads become nothing more than petty bickering? What about "there are many rooms in my father's house"? To me that indicates all are welcome and sure to find a place where they fit in, feel at home. I would say where "all are welcome" but it sounds like a Marty H...

I will go further - beautifully and charitably put Oops - thank you.

Sometimes in our pursuit of excellence we can forget our primary aim of being a Christian, followers of Christ.

A sincere thanks for the reminder - please keep reminding me.

Re: First Mass in new translation: so how was it?

I am looking forward to when I can relax and just know I will give the correct response. Part of me wishes we could have some basic Latin responses such as "Et cum spirito tuo" - but I know clever people will jump on that and say how ridiculous but ... We still sing Kyrie, Sanctus, Agnus D...
