Published settings 2

The previous topic got out of hand. I have locked it and started this new topic - for comment on new published settings and how they are working/being used in practice - and for nothing else.

Re: GIRM adjustment

NT, this thread is not really the one for that point! Of course, the Panel members are not the "working staff" of the Liturgy Office - who may well wish that they hadn't been given the extra admin involved either (although I have not heard anything from any of the staff to suggest that thi...

Re: GIRM adjustment

ICEL's role is to make translations that can be used throughout the English-speaking world, subject to variations requested by individual Bishops' Conferences which get approval. I think the magic words in Presbyter's posting are 'to add the approved US variants', which make all the difference. Ther...

Re: GIRM adjustment

The Chant Cafe, whilst considering the 2011 version of GIRM, is still looking at the version applying in the US and there is no basis upon which that version is to apply anywhere else (see the website of the US Bishops' Conference). The version currently on the England and Wales Liturgy Office websi...

Re: GIRM adjustment

According to its Constitution, "The Society's object is to promote study, understanding and good practice in the celebration of the liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church, in accordance with the teaching of the Church " (my italics). The 'four aims' on the homepage are a simple summary of wh...

Re: The Graduale Parvum (Continuum)

I don't have any issue with their being ignored, but why 'quite rightly' EP (just curious, although we are beginning to get a bit off topic).

Re: The Graduale Parvum (Continuum)

Might be worth noting that chant recordings and the like have been selling well in recent times.

I think that's about enough on latin('ish) graffiti. Can we now please return to the topic.

Re: PANEL decisions

I understand that this has been the plan for some time, but it has been on the back burner while the new Missal translation rush is taking place. Again, however, we are talking about 'only' textual and doctrinal fidelity, with no test of musical 'quality', so far as I am aware.

Re: PANEL decisions

Can we please avoid gratuitous personal attacks. If, NT, you have evidence that SC is wrong on a point that he/she makes, by all means air it, otherwise, let's stick to the issue on the thread, which is the publications of the decisions made by the Panel, which I know a lot of people are finding hel...
