Re: O Holy Night
Well, that is better. It gets it out of the system.
To have it blasted at you as if it has something profound to say is less delightful.
I would vote for Peace Child (Farrell).

O Holy Night
O Holy Night...... (solo)
Why has this become traditional? Heard it 3 years in a row now.
Boy chorister - and yes, we clapped. It was a release from the tension of- will he, won't he, reach those high notes?
Anyway, what could be sung instead?

Re: Clapping at the end of a carol service
Oh look, I'm still logged in after the last time I posted. Which is lucky. Otherwise I have to go to my emails and find the last password activation, copy and paste it and so on and so forth there does not seem to be a facility for changing new passwords to memorable passwords on the board - or I ha...

Re: Procession of Bridesmaids
This is so wrong. The more mature women will also have bought new outfits and made an effort. They too, should be allowed to process. So that is the MotB, MotG, er GreatAuntyEthel and so on and so forth. Then again, that is also unfair, and unequal. The men must be allowed to process too. The ushers...

Re: Muzak for the Mass
Oh there was a musician at this Mass! I think they were playing anyway. Maybe it was all recorded. I shall study it next time I go there. The hymns were bland too. It was Instant Whip, strawberry flavour. Using recorded music during the collection and then singing a hymn afterwards - it's all a bit ...

Muzak for the Mass
Oh dear. I really don't like it. If people really feel it is appropriate to play recorded music during, for example, the actual passing of the collection bag/plate, or during the Communion Procession, is there any way it which it can dignified so as not to be, Muzac for the Mass? I include light cla...

Re: I enjoyed that!
People usually enjoy something in which they are fully participating. So that for example, if they are not confident to try a new hymn, they feel they did not enjoy it. And those group occasions with a function in addition to the basic mass, they promote enjoyment because people came to support what...

Re: Magnum Principium
Apart from running and problems with stable doors - what will be the consequences of this?
For instance, in music, will there be opportunities to use the best Glorias of the post Vatican 2 period? Use then in the near future I mean.
Oh, that's an odd idea.

Re: First communion music
There is a whole little corner of awkwardness here ..... to the background of course, of some very well executed and thoughfully chosen music of both kinds. I was thinking about the role of Extraordinary Ministers and the FHC celebrations. And that fact that while the children will receive from the ...

Re: First communion music
I thought Eucharistic Ministers could bless? Otherwise it gets awkward. Leeds is changing the structure of Preparation for FHC and Confirmation. To facilitate the parents to prepare the children. I think something like this was done in around 1989 - I do remember going to a meeting at church and bei...

Re: First communion music
My ex parish used to do the prep and keep a note of who attended as well - at least the families came to Mass for that preparation time. I have accidentally been to two HC Masses the last two weeks. In different churches. The first was OK ish and not hi jacked too badly - just seemed a normal kind o...
