Re: Robert Cardinal Sarah's message to 'Sacra Liturgia' 2015

"It’s a small group because this presupposes a formation in Latin, a formation in a certain culture." I'd suggest an internet search on the words "presupposes a formation", which provides a link to any number of sites, including Zenit . Do you still maintain that SP was meant to...

Re: Robert Cardinal Sarah's message to 'Sacra Liturgia' 2015

...this "small group" (which, actually, really isn't that small) are loyal and obedient Catholics who love the Church, and who respect and obey the hierarchy. This is from a recent Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice newsletter: My objective has been to awaken people from the diabolically induced d...

Re: Robert Cardinal Sarah's message to 'Sacra Liturgia' 2015

The problem has been that, ever since, that small group has been telling the rest of us that they're right and we're all wrong. This is what was predicted to happen, and indeed it did, with unpleasant and unnecessary consequences in the life of the Church. Don't know that I agree - I'm not sure the...

It's fascinating and puzzling that he didn't. (To me, anyway; I know I should get out more.) Why do you think this was, Tom?

Re: Robert Cardinal Sarah's message to 'Sacra Liturgia' 2015

I think the cardinal was pointing to the fact that under Benedict there is a new a la carte element to our liturgy. That's an interesting viewpoint, Alan. Can I ask how you arrived at that conclusion? To my mind, Pope Benedict was aiming at quite the opposite! It seems to me that this is an inescap...

Re: Robert Cardinal Sarah's message to 'Sacra Liturgia' 2015

Amen to all that, Tom. You could take para. 3 and see it as an abnegation of the idea of a so-called 'reform of the reform'. Is that project now defunct, do you think?

Re: Nick Gale RIP

Should anyone hear when/where Nick's funeral is to be, would you be so kind as to post details here? I understand from a reliable source that the funeral will be at St George's Cathedral towards the end of next week. I will update info when things are finalized I think the service at St George's (T...

Re: Reception by eucharistic ministers

GIRM 162 says this: These ministers should not approach the altar before the Priest has received Communion, and they are always to receive from the hands of the Priest Celebrant the vessel containing the species of the Most Holy Eucharist for distribution to the faithful. A restrictive reading of t...

Re: Help please! - Advent Matins Responsory

It's obviously unfashionbly archaic, and I question it's accuracy ("Lift up your heads. O ye gates" - ? - even my Latin is good enough to know that "portas" is not vocative!) Different versions of the Bible have Lift up your heads, O ye gates or Lift up your gates, O ye princes ...

Re: New Prefect for CDWDS announced

He is thought to be traditionalist in his views, and is sympathetic to the Extraordinary Form I don't know that he is really either. No sign of being a traditionalist in the headbanger SSPX-sympathiser sense. He's a social and doctrinal conservative, which is something quite different - he had plen...

SSG Winter Assembly 15th November 2014 - Come and Sing!

This is a cordial invitation to singers to come and join the scratch choir for the SSG Annual Mass, part of the Winter Assembly taking place in Coventry on Friday 14th & Saturday 15th November 2014. Apologies to be advertising so late - I seem to have been thrust into the hot seat at remarkably ...
