Re: PANEL decisions

Peter, you started this thread so that people could share their experiences of Panel decisions (in relation to the setting of the new Mass translation to music) and so assist others who might be going through the same process. The Panel process is to do with adherence to the text (albeit that it may...

Re: PANEL decisions

The ' nihil obstat ' issue is muddying the waters on this thread. Can we please use this thread to deal with views and experiences of the permission to publish panel process, and nothing else. Further discussion on the imprimatur/nihil obstat for collections of church music should be on a separate t...

Re: Kevin Mayhew

We are now beginning to drift away from the topic of this thread - the position being adopted by Kevin Mayhew in his publications. Can we please 'drift back'.

Re: What are the people saying about the new translation?

OK. That's enough. Let's go back to the topic. In my neck of the woods it seems to be going better than when the previous translation came in. Our PP took the trouble to make sure that every person at every Christmas Mass had a little booklet with the entire text in it and it was followed pretty wel...

Can we please stick to 'New directions' and not drift off into side alleys that do not contribute towards taking the thread forward.

Re: The Missal arrives

I understand that the changes have gone a bit further than was expected, but my study edition of the new Missal has not yet arrived When it does (any day now!) I will also be reviewing the version of GIRM contained in it, which is not, so far as I am aware, available separately as yet.

Re: Mocqurray

Just a few general points than I am concerned about. I do not know who Southern Comfort is (nor, I suspect, does Musicus). We are not told of the identities behind pseudonyms and we try to work within the rules of the forum to the best of our abilities. Forum members must not try to 'out' the identi...

Re: Bumper Music & Liturgy

Comments on the quality of the new translation are off topic so far as this thread is concerned. By all means debate that quality (in a sensible, dispassionate and reasoned manner please!) in a new thread.

Re: First Mass in new translation: so how was it?

On the basis that (i) it has clearly run out of steam, and (ii) we said we would do so at this time, I have now locked this topic.

Re: Looking for good tunes & new texts

Reactions to, experiences of and discussion about the Panel process are really "off topic" as far as this thread is concerned. Please add to the appropriate thread(s) or start new ones for new aspects of the Panel process.

Re: Only got a piano.

dmu3tem said why is this thread in the Liturgy Matters section and not somewhere under Sounds Off? . I see this as being about the use of the piano in the context of the liturgy (and not just as an accompaniment instrument either) and so I am happy that this is the appropriate part of the forum for ...

Re: Copyright

Mea culpa! I was thinking of the expression in entirely the wrong context. Thanks to those who corrected me. However I still don't think that NT's formula satisfies the conditions that are necessary for the release to be given in respect of those items that are copyright.

Re: Copyright

Just to be clear, consent is given for royalty-free use of copyright texts for services booklets and the like conditional upon the appropriate notice being given, details of which are on the link above. NT's notice does not, technically, meet that requirement, and so the use is in breach of copyrigh...
