Re: Long-standing music director axed as £1m debt forces cut

Don't be too harsh Phil - I'm sure Thomas means well and is trying to offer a constructive solution to what is becoming a serious problem, even though, like you, I don't agree with him!

I'm glad this has sorted it out for you Q. I will leave the topic up for a while as the advice it contains may be of use to others.

Re: Tech help please

I've just had a little play! If your browser's tool bar has a 'zoom' function (I use Chrome, which does), you can increase the size - which may be a quick, if not a permanent fix (although I have logged in and out a few times and the size has remained 'large'). I hope that helps. If not, please let ...

Re: Tech help please

Welcome back Q! We will look into this for you. I switch between XP, W7 and Mac and it hasn't caused a problem and we haven't changed the software, so I suspect that it is to do with the defaults are your end - but we will see.

Re: Closure of Department for Pastoral Formation - Portsmout

Hare, neither Musicus nor I feel that you have anything to apologise for. SOP and Musicus were responding to the nature of some of the posts that began to appear on the blog in question over time - and you cannot be blamed for those! (Thank you, Dom Perignon. Yes, this is exactly what I meant - musi...

Re: Regulation of New Hymnals and their use

Although one or two of Dr Muir's points have been touched on in other threads (for example, in threads dealing with the 'permission to publish' process), they have never been covered in full and there has never been a single thread that has dealt with hymn collections. Accordingly (i) there was no b...

Re: Regulation of New Hymnals and their use

Here are the guidelines issued by the Liturgy Office: " Hymnbooks are intended to enable the song of the faithful in the liturgy and are regarded as participation aids. They should provided a range of material which includes (approved) settings of the liturgical texts and suitable choices for t...

Re: Malurgy

Nick, please leave the politics out and stick to the liturgy. It is not helpful, or even particularly relevant, and you are generalising a bit. I know plenty of Catholic priests and laity who would see many good things in Mrs Thatcher's politics but have little or no time for EF worship, and I know ...

Re: High esteem for the pipe organ?

I would assume that Mary was being, shall we say, a little clumsy, and really means that she would not 'move in' because only the organ is used, and she prefers to use/hear/sing to other instruments. I do hope so.

Re: High esteem for the pipe organ?

I think that will do. Can someone please contribute something new on the original topic. Otherwise, I will lock this thread on the basis that it has run its course.
