Re: Hymns for Confirmation?
Thanks for all the help folks - I've gleaned a couple of useful suggestions and fed them into the decision process. I'll post the final selection (whenever I'm told what it is!)

Hymns for Confirmation?
Are there any hymns for Confirmation emerging as "classics" from the more contemporary end of the musical spectrum? Our horizons are usually limited to the contents of Laudate (original edition) which is rather thin on hymns to or about the Holy Spirit (and, curiously, although there is a ...

- and was it not the norm (if not actually a "rule") that if a hymn which concluded with a doxology needed to be shortened for practical reasons the doxology was never omitted? (Groping in distant memories here!)

Re: The Best Narthex in Christendom
Narthex? - Shmarthex! - I was a reasonably fluent member of the church for more than half a century before I suddenly found myself inundated by these pseudo intellectual pseudo Greek words - narthexes and praxises and most recently charisms (incidentally all rejected by my spell checker :D ) - and y...

Lectionary for Sunday - the Holy Family - yr B
Not much time for your help on this, I'm afraid, but there seems to be some confusion about the texts for this Sunday - Liturgy and Music appears to have the texts which my humble "pew-fodder" Missal has for year A (it's the CTS New Missal, published 2011). My year B ones are quite differe...

Re: First communion music
Our FHC Masses used to be depressing affairs . . . What an inspiring post, Becky - I've been "off watch" as far as the forum is concerned for some time for reasons some happy, some sad, but having just wrestled with something unrelated on the infernal machine I thought I'd have a minute t...

1 - does not meet exepctations.
I'm struggling with the maths (or the meaning?) here, Mary - am I missing something?

Re: God so loved the world
I used it one year to close an Advent carol service - sung with a strong ending resounding with optimism it was well received.

Re: Triduum accompaniment
(Note to self: Calm down, Q, don't be in such a rush!) - I've just noticed that SC was in fact quoting an article by Paul Inwood in M & L, so credit where it's due, and apologies all round. (I am rather looking forward to being taken to task and quoting this trenchant paragraph: But the real po...

Re: Triduum accompaniment
Sorry, Sorry, SORRY - just found SC's very comprehensive post from an old thread about Accompaniment on Good Friday - shouldn't have asked!

(ps - anyone know how to do a link to a post in another thread? - meanwhile search on Laetare and all will be revealed.)

Re: Triduum accompaniment
Hoping for a quick response (given the date!) - and hoping that this has not been asked too many times before (not wishing to irritate) - but as I'm moonlighting on Sunday (being Laetare Sunday) in a church that observes the "no incidental music" rule during Lent I'd like to know if they w...
