Re: "Responsorial" Gloria
8) 8) 8)   I can recommend Dan Schutte's Mass of Christ the Savior, which can be sung either with a repeat refrain or straight through. Published by OCP (and available to listen to on Youtube) Be aware, if you use this, that it is known as the "My Little Pony" Mass. To give...

Re: Extraordinary Rite News
SNIP At the same time it is a time to look again at whether those others of us, who are not following EF, do faithfully follow the liturgical norms that are in force. Many things have crept in which are 'norms, instructions, permissions and customs that precede the present Motu proprio' but not par...

Re: Extraordinary Rite News
There are parishes that have been given over to groups that will only celebrate according to 1962. How will they stand? And there is no mention of other sacraments ........?

Re: Communal Singing in Church
Our parish Coordinators Group (which nobody elected, posts neither agendas nor minutes, and seems to not contain the people who are most active in the parish) has decided that current arrangements re music will continue until September, no matter what the bishops decide. This without consulting the ...

Re: Communal Singing in Church
The Bishops might not go for a "back to normal" approach, in view of the age of our clergy and congregations.

Re: Wedding at Westminster
I bet there isn't a Catholic in the land wondering exactly the same thing!
Particularly those who are ensnared in the annulment process.

Re: Liturgy
June 21st might turn out to be optimistic. Like others I am desperate to hear my congregation singing again. Getting very tired of playing background music (a mix of apposite hymns and actual "pieces.") That being said I am not at all in favour of jumping the gun in the name of Catholic Ex...

Re: New Translation of the Lectionary incoming
There are compositional tricks that can overcome the impression that the peoples response is an also ran. I quite like ending psalm verses on the dominant so the response, even when short comes as the completion of what has come before. Our lot are accustomed to singing the lectionary responses Sund...

Re: New Translation of the Lectionary incoming
Thanks for that excellent full reply. So its the usual bungling with no thought for the consequences then. With almost all parishes worrying about their futures in any form post Covid, and with returning parishioners in all states of worry and grief, the episcopal shepherds would do well to concentr...

Re: Bishops' Vademecum for Holy Week 2021
My plan for the psalms will be to have the response once at the beginning and at the end and to straight through the verses.
We have no singing at all and to have the Exultet as the first bit of singing will be profound.

Lets hope musicians get sight of it early enough to adjust/re-write responsorial psalms.

Re: Women in 'Minor Orders'
There has been precious little money for lay education and formation in the past.
I suspect the impact of Covid on collections will mean even fewer funds in future.
