'Cursed' Cross
Please can someone enlighten me as to the acceptability of 'cursed tree' as applied to the cross in a Hillsong 'song' we are asked to learn for Easter Sunday Mass. On Good Friday we adore the Holy Cross, and venerate it. Is 'cursed' reasonable?

Seems similar to 'Come back to me With all your heart.'

Re: Unity with Liturgical Diversity
Apologies for opening an old thread, but I wonder what has been the people's experience in parishes that have been handed over to the Ordinariate. I have close friends who have been rather distressed at radical change in style, liturgy, attitude, and practice. They feel that the Ordinariate has not ...

Re: Easter Sunday morning Masses
We will have our shortest ever Vigil this year, and still at 8.00. And sunset is 7.44.... New PP will sing short form Exsultet, with responses, 'This is the night of joy... etc.' It will be good to have the priest singing it, after 30 years of cantors. (Does anywhere have a female voice for the Exsu...

Re: Responsorial Psalm
Yes, the McCrimmon Complete Responsorial Psalter has been our main psalm resource since it was in three books. We still sometimes use the separate books for missing settings that were not carried over, and I am not over impressed with the cobbled inclusive language in the later edition. That's just ...

Re: SSG Communications - what the heck is going on?
To answer SC's question, I wonder if other users and people who usually comment here are having the same problem as I have had for the last three months. I have not been able to log in, and I have noticed that each time I have looked at the forum, the legend that says how many are online notes numbe...

Re: Muzak for the Mass
I know what you mean about identifying muzak, and the distraction! Re the Pachelbel, it was the in and out cd for a funeral I did three weeks ago. First since new PP arrived, but another priest was doing it. Quite a search for the cd player, so I said I'd play it. Player found, and used for entrance...

Re: Muzak for the Mass
Too true oops! So far, thank God, we have not had recorded music for Sunday Mass, but a 'suitable' CD (not so suitable when it breaks into Glorias and Alleluias during Passiontide,) is played during confessions at the Lent and Advent reconciliation services; we used to have the choir singing Taize c...

Re: I enjoyed that!
Quite, a play through is so important with new tunes. And so is an intro that identifies even well known hymns. Somehow I don't know how to tell the 12 string guitarist who leads alternate weeks here that a couple of strummed chords gives no indication, especially as we are not using hymn books, and...

Re: Gloria settings
Our parish likes Nick Baty's Eldonian Gloria, and we use St Paul the Apostle Mass, by Chris Walker, and for simplicity, Belmont. Mike Stanley's Mass of St Bernadette is another, but it starts on top D which is not always helpful.
