Re: Year of Faith

No doubt there are many and varied initiatives and different levels of enthusiasm for the Year of Faith. It is a great shame to hear that it is seen by some as 'yawn-producing', especially given its role in the New Evangelisation. I am certainly not criticising laity because the message has not got ...

Re: Year of Faith

I won't even ask what that means. No subtle meaning intended Nick. Just an observation that in our twenty-first century age of rapid communication the parish must be semi-detached if word of Pope Benedict XVI's inauguration of the Year of Faith, and Archbishop Patrick's call for a monthly Holy Hour...

Maryvale Institute

Last weekend I started the two-year distance-learning Certificate in Studies in the Catechism course through Maryvale Institute. The weekend was the inaugural residential: it was superb! Just wondering if anyone else on here is a current or past Maryvale student. :?:

Re: Year of Faith

I would have thought the Year of Faith would have been mentioned as underpinning the monthly Holy Hour of Faith called for by Archbishop Patrick.

Re: Year of Faith

This thread has gone very quiet! So, how is the Year of Faith unfolding in your parish? I outlined what is planned in my parish in an earlier post. Another development is that our repository has stocked-up with some excellent quality hardback editions of the Catechism (at at a very reasonable £10) a...

Re: Malurgy

Francis Cardinal Arinze, in his introduction to the current print of Vatican II document Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy , notes: The danger is that some people seem to think that inculturation in the liturgy encourages free and uncontrolled creativity. (p. 7) and Some people think that liturgica...

Re: GIRM being republished

I have the new print version from CTS, but have nothing to compare it against. This is a link to the CTS page for the GIRM: http://www.cts-online.org.uk/acatalog/info_RM12.html

Sorry I cannot add anything else.

Re: GIRM being republished

Your link is to the US version Helen. A quick glance at that and the CTS print version shows some minor variations in wording. Also there may well be differences where matters fall within the competence of the bishops' conferences. The CTS publication includes details specific to England and Wales a...

Re: Malurgy

I find it difficult to understand the need to isolate the eucharist from the rest of the life of the parish which leads into and flows from that celebration.........Body of Christ, and all that. Anyone remember talk about "authentic" liturgy, which was not the same thing at all as "v...
