Ecclesiastical furniture wanted!

Does anybody in the midlands know of anywhere which has a spare - I don't even know if this is the correct term for it - prayer rail that might be available to a good home? (I mean the kneeler and pew-height vertical piece that sits in front of a front row of pews) The front row of our choir current...

Re: More from Mgr Wadsworth

I think we can certainly agree that it won't add much splendor to anything if it hasn't been tuned.

Re: More from Mgr Wadsworth

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool child of VII: [....], loathe organ music in church Ouch. That must be tough...I mean, if you were only a cafeteria child of VII you could just pick and choose, but presumably a dyed-in-the-wool child of VII doesn't have that option...and as we all know... 120. In the Latin Ch...

Re: Multi culturalism

It is a lost skill No. Really, it isn't. and something most people that I encounter cannot do now. Sadly I'm sure that it is true that they do not, and would think it highly likely that they do not see any need to. But given that it is possible to get a class of 8 year olds singing simple rounds wi...

Re: Congregational singing of hymns

Yes... while Nick may be correct in the technical sense of 'tradition', I think that's a bit beside the point when considering something that is the de facto norm in contemporary worship. You have a situation grown up that you want to reverse: you have to be more specific about why (otherwise we cou...

New CD release - St Chad's Cathedral Organ

Hi all, Organiacs and/or Midlanders may be interested in Paul Carr's new CD, which is, suprisingly, the first solo recording of the 1994 instrument at St Chad's Birmingham. Hakim - Ouverture Libanaise Hendrie - Toccata and Fugue in F sharp minor Dupré - Esquisse No 1 & No 2 (Op 41) Purcell arr. ...

Wanted! - Catholic Primary School

Apologies mods if this is not acceptable forum use, but I know there are a fair number of people on here who would potentially know, assuming that what I'm looking for actually exists... If anybody knows of any Catholic primary school in the midlands, (widely defined) which may have spare places in ...

Re: A year on, what are we singing?

When you say 'now-unauthorised', are you talking about paraphrases of the Gloria (etc) or have I missed something and are we now not supposed to be using 'standard' (for want of a better word) hymns eg, (and only because we did this last Sunday), Praise My Soul The King of Heaven at the Entrance Pro...

Re: A year on, what are we singing?

But we no longer have vocations, or at least a recognised ministry since the revisions to the Intercessions on Good Friday where we no longer pray for all who have a ministry in the church. The bit that caused me to grin this Good Friday was to note that politicians rank below aetheists in what app...

Re: A year on, what are we singing?

Our PP embraced the new with enthusiasm...don't think he was much of a fan of the previous version. Almost all of our choir sang at the Cofton Mass, so the MacMillan JHN was kind of an obvious place to start, although as a unison setting to support the congregation, most of whom seem to be at least ...
