Re: Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time A
... a beautiful setting by Monteverdi, too difficult for our parish resources and too long for our modern day liturgies unfortunately. It completely slipped my mind until I was looking through the papers this evening: we sang this at last year's Summer School. Dispatched it with considerable aplomb...

Re: How many planners?
... The folk who attend the Triduum will be lost if the organ and choir strike up with, for example, a Holy which they are not used to singing. For acclamations, at least, the various ensembles should have a common repertoire. In practice it does not seem to cause us a problem - probably because th...

Re: How many planners?
We are another "separate planning" parish. Of the five Sunday Masses in the church itself two are normally sung. The 10am Mass has a children's music group two Sundays each month, for which my wife and I choose the music - typically just a week in advance. It would be could if we could pla...

Re: Psallite - our first attempts
Doc is right. The Calamus licence does cover the Psallite products. If you don't have a Calamus licence, you need to buy a licence from the UK agents, Magnificat Music. That is not at all clear from the books, and Liturgical Press were happy to take my money and did not point me elsewhere.... (but,...

Re: Psallite - our first attempts
Of course simply being in posession of a parish licence does not mean one can reproduce the stuff willy-nilly- acknowledgments must be printed and returns filled in, but that's a topic for another thread. so at least since I have paid for the Psallite license directly I don't need to worry about th...

and contacted Liturgical Press for a Psallite antiphons reprint license Do you not have a Calamus Licence? I have been told that the Parish does have a Calamus License (though I have not seen it with my own eyes, and am not at all sure that those who told me know exactly what it does and does not c...

Psallite - our first attempts
Inspired by the music at this year's Summer School, we came back with a few copies of Where two or three are Gathered (the year-A sampler) and one cantor/choir edition of Psallite . My thought was that we would try one or two of the psalms from the sampler, and see how they went in our context. We a...

Re: Formation for young singers
It is not something we have considered for our Children's Music Group. I don't think I would want to award certificates, as one thing we want to do is to differentiate from school. On the other hand, we do give the children (and child-like adults) something chocolate at Christmas and Easter, and we ...
