Re: Year of Faith - Did it help increase numbers in your par

VML commented, on Monday January 12 2015 at 2.58pm: " Our numbers have been quite consistent over the last five years, possibly being boosted by the presence of an international army base on our patch. Many personnel there have become very involved in the parish during quite short postings. I t...

The 'New' Translation - your recommended music settings

Please add here your recommendations for settings of the ordinary of the Mass in the 'new' translation that you have found useful. I have included some posts that were originally posted elsewhere. Please note that settings must have had "permission to publish" either from the Bishops Confe...

Re: Year of Faith - Did it help increase numbers in your par

I generally don't moderate if we drift slightly off topic and then work back to it reasonably quickly, but this has gone too far in too many different directions! Could we please return to the legacy of the Year of Faith under this topic. I may set up two more threads, being (i) recommendations for ...

This is to wish all members of the Society of Saint Gregory and our non-member friends who participate in the forum a very happy and holy Christmas...and may your liturgies and the music in them go well! :)

Re: Site down for maintenance?

The promised update.

I understand that we had a server running amok and cutting out what it decided to regard as 'irrelevant' (ie the Forum!). Quite how that happened is beyond me, but I'm told that it has now been sorted out.

Re: Site down for maintenance?

We don't "fiddle" with it SC! In fact, the moderators need to have the site working properly in order to use the moderating tools.

I had the same problems as everyone else. I think it was a hosting problem. More news when I get to the bottom of it myself.

Re: best picks for the First Sunday Advent

Oops, I thought about your use of a certain term first time around and decided that it would probably not cause too much offence - we are all (I hope) understanding people, but maybe moderation in all things is the way to go! Gentle chiding apart, I quietly resigned in not too dissimilar circumstanc...

Re: Site down for maintenance?

I hadn't responded to SC's post as I had thought that our Administrator would deal with it (it's way outside my knowledge base!), but I understand that Administrator has been quite ill recently. I don't think that any serious problems have occurred more recently, but if anything does happen please d...

Re: Site down for maintenance?

I'm not aware of any reason why this should be occurring any more often than usual. I log in several times each day to moderate, and haven't noticed any increase in downtime. Whatever the position is, it is nothing to do with the work that Michelle and Daniel are carrying out. They are working on a ...

Re: Pope Francis moves to suppress liturgical abuses

I have deleted certain of the most recent posts because, in my view, they drifted off topic and began to drift towards becoming personal attacks. Can we please return to the debate.

This is a great idea. There is no problem with this sort of advertisement on the forum - it is only commercial ads that can be a problem.

Re: Long-standing music director axed as £1m debt forces cut

Don't be too harsh Phil - I'm sure Thomas means well and is trying to offer a constructive solution to what is becoming a serious problem, even though, like you, I don't agree with him!
