Re: Eeee! Th' laffs we do 'av'.
Brilliant! I love the moo moo stuff. What CD? The funny (or sad) thing is that I wrote a spoof article about this for the April 1st edition of our diocesan newspaper a few years ago, saying that it had been disovered in Bavaria or somewhere, and wrote a pseudo plainchant setting of it. which was pri...

Re: Eeee! Th' laffs we do 'av'.
Priceless! But does anyone remember the long-lost but recently discovered antiphon:
"Senex filius imperator mundi fundum habebat" ?
(hint: ther name Donald apparently means "world ruler".)

Re: Unity with Liturgical Diversity
I would hope that nobody here would not welcome anyone into the Church. I became a Catholic at 16, went to seminary, decided that the priesthood was not for me, and have happily and I hope reasonably successfully engaged in a music ministry for the last 30 or so years, 20 of them being in my current...

Re: Unity with Liturgical Diversity
It's far from implausible to suggest that a good number of them might wonder why they shouldn't. And it might be difficult to provide a good reason why they should not be allowed to. Well for a start Paul, if they were to leave the Catholic Church, become Anglicans. get ordained, then re-enter the ...

Re: Unity with Liturgical Diversity
I think Kung has diversified too much - his classic books like The Church and Infallible? were well within his subject area of ecclesiology and even On Being a Christian , despite its being messy in parts, was rooted in his Catholicicity. I think when he started to look at world religions he was a l...

Vespers, Christ the King
Can anyone help with this request from a friend? " I need to locate the appropriate Magnificat antiphon for Vespers on the feast of Christ the King (Nov 22nd this year). The Liber Usualis lists Christ the King as the last Sunday in October, and has different material for the last Sunday after P...

Jesus wants me for a sunbeam
No, seriously, he does; at least I've just found out that it is requested for a funeral on Monday at 10.00am, along with "I heard the voice of Jesus say". Any chance of a copy of both or either from anyone? PDFs will be destroyed, with great pleasure, at precisely 10.55am. Deus in ajdutori...

Re: Papal Visit, September 2010
So says Ruth Gledhill on today's Times blog, picked up by the BBC, CNN and others. A full 6-day state visit, if everything is to be believed, with venues on the draft itinerary listed as London, Oxford, Liverpool and Edinburgh, addresses to both Houses of Parliament in Westminster Hall, staying wit...

Re: What's the difference..?
The first thing is to establsh what your PP means by "musician" and ask him what he thinks you are if you are only called in beauase of the "musicians'" absence; the second would be to refer him to GIRM; the third is to ask him why he doesn't obey his employers - yes, that's us, ...

Re: Agnus Dei...or not!
The easiest thing surely ia to supply priest/servers/readers &c with a running order showing exactly what is to be sung (though believe me that doesn't always work!).
