Re: You can't please all the people all of the time

We have smilies and they are a similar thing. So what is that then? You will carry some clout if you are male/ or have a moustache? Thought so. Also, I always thought there was a bit of "You're not from round 'ere, are you?" going on in my case. So woman might be discriminated against in t...

Re: You can't please all the people all of the time

I suppose too, this links up with something I was pondering on just recently. I was thinking how odd it was when I was in post, so to speak, that some people ie the HT from the school, various VIPs of the Diocese or other powers that be, never acknowledged me with ordinary greetings or those other s...

Re: You can't please all the people all of the time

Oh I get it. This is where OFSTED expects that all children will exceed expectations and therefore should be expected to do so therefore changing those expectations and as such is connected to the concept that all achievement will be above average. So if a musician provides according to expectations...

Re: Liturgical Tourism

Yes that's the one. They sang it well and some people in the Communion Procession joined in with the refrain.

Re: International Declaration on Sacred Music "Cantate Domino"

And so what is the deal then , publishing such a statement just as the Pope makes his thingie too. What's the politics of this? It is all a bit confrontational and all that. So there are a lot of people with pow, who prefer Gregorian chant and plenty of Latin. So lots of parishes do jingly and banal...

Re: International Declaration on Sacred Music "Cantate Domino"

Yes At first I thought there were no women but then I spotted some .... don't know the percentage though. So I was thinking then, how would it be if the plan was for the numbers to be even, equal, balanced. Would they have to leave out some of those illustrious men. Or would they have to enlist a lo...

Re: International Declaration on Sacred Music "Cantate Domino"

Been there done that VML. Those music practices in an unheated room in winter dark and just........ me. Is it the lack of respect the church has for musicians or the desperation of parish priests to find any music at all, that allows such torture to be acceptable. It is the curse of voluntary activi...

Re: International Declaration on Sacred Music "Cantate Domino"

I think I have already taken this thread off topic. So I may start another thread or the mods. can do. Glynn stated that music can be so awful in some places that it does not even qualify as musac to be piped into lifts. I agree. Sometimes I go places where the technical skills of the leadership are...

Re: Pipe Organs and Organists - Dying out?

That is good Keitha.
Here is our organ project
www.holyfamilyls12.org.uk/christianheritageOH.html

the nattering about women organists above was in connection with the idea, that pipe organs are a emblems of Patriarchal Society - it is a confusion on this thread and should be ingored.
