Re: 2012 Gateway Liturgical Conference - Scripture

"The revision of the lectionary to facilitate the reading of a far greater part of the Scriptures has been widely recognized as one of the great fruits of the liturgical reform and our lectionary has been adopted or adapted for use by many Christian communities beyond the full communion of the ...

2012 Gateway Liturgical Conference - Scripture

"I cannot help but think that singing more scripturally based texts at Mass would certainly be an improvement from some of the music which currently fills many collections of liturgical songs which are distinguished only by their notable lack of a true liturgical voice." - Mgr. Andrew Wads...

Re: Norrenough gud choons

Thanks for the information JW. However, what I am asking is if the people behind the new Scottish liturgy academy have written any good tunes. I am looking for something like Dan Schutte's 'Mass of the Savior' or 'Eagles wings'. There seems to be so much music on the internet that is devoid of music...

Re: Guide for Accompanying Mass

Just one thing I'm not sure about. A while ago, I was asked to accompany a final hymn to the Mother of God. This was during May, on one of the Easter Sundays (morning Mass on a bright day), and it seemed very odd to me that people were singing: 'Deep night hath come down on this rough-spoken world A...

Re: BJHN conference speech

" ... mainly about 'me' ... "

The 'me' is the Davidic 'me' of the psalms -- which, has everything to do with Catholicism.

Bernadette Farrell's setting of Ps.139 'O God, you search me ... ' is not 'Muzak'.

'If you are inspired, all that you need is available on the web ... ' (Joseph Cullen -- above speech).

This is not true.

I think that John Henry Newman would be surprised to learn that the traditional music of our church does not involve eagles and mountains.

What about sunrise?

'His splendor was like the sunrise; rays flashed from his hand, where his power was hidden.' (Habakkuk 3:4)

Anything take your fancy?

Yes.

Where I help out with the music at Mass, we have been learning Dan Schutte's 'Mass of the Savior'.

I think that this will be a huge hit both sides of the pond & Oz & NZ. It is full of lots of good tunes -- esp. 'Save us Savior of the world'.

Would anyone like?

I have on old Viscount organ keyboard -- the equivalent of 'Cantorum VI'. It stopped working for no
apparent reason some years ago.

If anyone would like it please PM me.

All the best,

JQ

I do not agree.

Installing altar rails would be an act of wholesale idolatry and vandalism.
