Sibelius software & instant responsorial psalms. . .

I'm amazed how vast an output of wonderful music J.S. Bach managed with only pen & manuscript paper. I wonder if he'd had a PC or Mac with Sibelius or Finale software would he have wasted much valuable composing time defagging, re-installing, upgrading, fault-finding, web-surfing or on-line chat...

A Happy and Blessed New Year to you too and to all present and future forum members. Re: joining the "Souds Off" forum, I was asking myself that very question this morning - how do I join? I wonder does entering last year's composers' competition make me eligible? Maybe it excludes me. Thanks for th...

Can be sung to the tune St Deniol . . .

Immoral, impossible, God only knows Why tenors and basses, sopranos, altos At mass on a Sunday are rarely the same As those who on Friday to choir practice came. Unready, unable to sight-read the notes, Nor counting, nor blending, they tighten their throats: The descant so piercing is soaring above:...

Which Sundays?

Can anyone tell me on which Sundays of the liturgical year may the Apostles' Creed replace the Nicene Creed at Mass? If you could also tell me why, then that'd be a double whammy.

Thirteen things that a church organist doesn't want to hear:

"Can't we just have hymns and not sing all that other stuff?" "So, which of those beats is the downbeat then?" "Can we move rehearsal to a different night next week? There's an hour-long Emmerdale on at the same time you see." "Oh really! I've just sung that one" "Sorry that I wasn't at practice las...

Presbyter, I wonder within the walls of how many churches this morning one will hear "O Come let us adore Him" sung after the Institution Narrative in the Eucharistic Prayer. If any reader really doesn't know why the above is wrong, say so here and I'll reply. Is it wrong because it has no resurrect...

Acclamation ?

A few years back our Children's Liturgy Group returned to the assembly at Christmas morning mass and sang:

"Happy Birthday to yooo!
Happy Birthday to yooo!
Happy Birthday dear Jesus,
Happy Birthday to yooo!"

I've never fully recovered from this.
