And this is worse. After a dreadful Easter Sunday morning Mass I have committed myself to "All the I Am" for the Offertory forever or until someone begs me to stop. It's not a punishment, it's pragmatic. They sing it. And I don;t get to feel that I have started a hymn in the wrong place pu...

well now, I'm afraid I have had a lot of tantrums and refused to play the organ, but then most people say what I do is not really accurately described as playing the organ. And I walked out of Midnight Mass once. Just closed the lid and went home, well I would have done had the car not been parked i...

We have a had a blip today over no hymns for Our Lady at all in May. It was a bit of a veiled threat really. Tidings of unrest. Maybe they are going to stop singing. No, wait, they've already done that during some services and some hymns . Easter Sunday Mass was particularly unnerving. 200 people in...

Happy Easter I know it is Easter because the organ was naughty tonight. Maybe it was sulking because it only got to do the final hymn. G got stuck again on Great, seems to to be when I use the Open Diapason stop. It was hard to spot because the key did not look depressed, but it stopped when I lifte...

Where would I find this text for Christ Be Our Light? We know that tune and it would be good to have even just one that was accessible to the younger people at church. Or in everyday English for those new to the language.

I was going to do Now the Green Blade Riseth and just a communion hymn, maybe, This is my Body but have got opposition. We are finishing with Thine Be the Glory. I can't bring myself to put i...

The Next Generation ? That's the the theme tune for "Star Trek: The Next Generation" isn't it. I have it, somewhere I think. My music lessons were eventually paid for by Ted Heath' government. Remember music awards? I have got a successor but he is only 8 at the moment. He has promised me ...
