Re: best picks for the First Sunday Advent
I understood that "O come, O come Emmanuel" was not to be sung so early in Advent. Am I mistaken? Our offering next week for the Vigil Mass is as follows:- Come, thou long expected Jesus (to the tune of "Alleluia, sing to Jesus"; we will probably sing it unaccompanied except for ...

Hello everyone.
For those who were interested, this is what we ended up with; the pamphlet is designed to be folded twice.
The lady who did most of the work on this is happy for you to make use of it should you wish.

Re: Fit for purpose
I quite liked " . . . not worthy to receive you . . ." though, it was equal to ". . . come under my roof" as a translation of "ut intres sub tectum meum," The new translation on this makes a very clear reference to the words of the Centurion, whose sentiment we echo. I...

Hello again. This is the first draft. Any comments or observations? Celebrant: God of Glory, Your beloved Son has shown us that true worship comes from humble and contrite hearts. Bless our brothers and sisters, who have responded to the needs of our parish in offering to commit themselves to Your s...

Thank you for all the suggestions so far.
We have a parishioner who has the gift of being able to compose beautiful Prayers of Intercession. She is going to work on something, perhaps along the lines of questions and response similar to those during a wedding service.

Service of rededication/commission of musicians, etc
At the Summer School mention was made of some parishes (mainly in the USA, I believe) of an annual sevice of rededication/commission for liturgists, musicians, singers, etc somewhere along the lines of that for Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist. I have discussed this with our PP and he is in ...

Re: Pope Francis moves to suppress liturgical abuses
Now you might be of the persuasion that Dioceses should appoint teams of 'OFSTED' type inspectors to make sure that parishes are properly run. More expense and the lawyer-types would love it. But actually, that's not what our great Church is about. We are about giving people freedom to worship God ...

Re: Liturgical Tourism
Several years ago our family was holidaying in County Kerry, Ireland. The music for the Mass was being provided by a small group of young people (~16-22). During the Communion Procession they played some reflective music which, at first, I thought was lovely. Then I recognised the music; it was the ...
