Is there an anorak out there who can fill me in? Down our way 'getting filled in' means you're given a good kicking, Mersysider, though I must confess I don't know that many tattooed, broken-nosed, cauliflower eared criminal gang-land thugs who are also liturgucal experts. Someone'll correct me tho...

I say sir! We're British !!! I use Finale as well as Sibelius, I certainly wouldn't say that one is any more deserving of our hard-earned cash than the other. If I need precise, fine control over layout then Finale wins hands down over Sibelius. "But for simplicty and ease of use Sib's the bee's kne...

Yes Dot, I was simply seeking clarification that the request is really just as it seems. And it seems that it is exactly that. Of the many blessings that being a Welsh person brings, by no means least among them is to enjoy a light-hearted dig at our own expense (another is being able to sing everyt...

We have three or four Glorias in current use: Bob Hurd's Missa Ubi Caritas (I get to play the drum for that one!!) Peter Jones' Coventry Gloria (I get to play the organ loudly for the final Amen !!!) The latin one - de Angelis? and another one (possilby the Lourds) which we are phasing out slowly. T...

If I'm honest I'm not sure what's being asked of us here. Do we simply compile a list of current and past dead certs? What works and what doesn't? What we'd like to have included in a compilation?

Sorry to be so thick - I'm Welsh you know! so keep it simple.

I purchased an educationally discounted Sibelius 1.0 some years ago via post from Canada. Being a church organist/choir leader (in the UK) entitled me to the discount. I've since purchased the updates to version 2 and version 3 direct from Sibelius UK, there's never been a problem. F.W.I.W. Unless y...

Indeed.

I still miss Martin Shaw's setting of the Gloria and Creed as well as the Burton (or maybe Burden?) in F Sanctus and Kyrie from my anglican days.

Peter Jones' Coventry Gloria is very singable and easily picked up but the punter-in-the -pew. Doesn't feel like it's now more than twenty years old does it?

My wife and I enjoy evensong - could it be that in heaven they use Anglican chant? Anglican chant is fine on its own, it's only when you add words to it that it becomes a problem. Have you read a little book called Organo Pleno by a chap named Reynolds? It's about playing the organ in the anglican ...

Perhaps saddest of all is that someone trained in the liturgy has to go outside the Catholic church to find a suitable paid post

Amen to that.

Will you have to endure Evensong in your new post Organist?
