Lamb of God/Jesus Lamb of God

Since the text for the Agnus Dei is not changing with the revised translation, and since the alternative text of "Jesus Lamb of God... Jesus bearer of our sins....Jesus redeener of the world" was approved for use when sung , can we assume that this concession will still obtain after Advent...

Re: Change it but don't tell me about it...

An interesting post from PrayTell: At our pre-Lent Priest’s Conference the hot topic was the implementation of the missal. I thought you might get a kick out of these words from our bishop: “Make the most of it. Study it. Practice it — I can’t stress that enough. Some of the phrases are, as many of...

Would that in fact be the Bridge Adagio in E I wonder? (A gorgeous piece!) I don't know of one in G.

Re: Simony in the 21st century?

While, as Presbyter says, it's probably for the parish/deanery/pastoral area to provide such things, there's no shame in putting in a claim for a copy! I have never had problems with asking - within reason - for expenses - for example, I write quite a lot of music for use in the parish - pslams, ac...

Re: Easter Vigil 2011 - when to start?

But there is the practical point to consider - that many people would not feel comfortable about coming out after dark, especially on the Saturday night of a holiday weekend. For the same reason a marked decline in Christmas Midnight Mass attendance has been noted over the years....

Fr Eugene Monaghan IC, RIP

Eugene Monaghan of the Institute of Charity (Rosminians), priest and liturgical musician, died in the early hours of Monday after a long illness. He produced musical settings for the entire three-year cycle of psalms and gospel acclamations as well as a number of Mass settings. Before assuming a par...

Cameo roles

What, please, are the guidelines for so-claaled lay ministries at Mass? GIRM seems unhelpful as far as the following is concerned. (a) can a reader who has nor been present ay the beginning of the Mass come on and proclaim the readings and then (b) go out of the church after s/he has done his/her bi...

Re: The New Texts: A Seminar for Composers

I have suggested this before and although it is not strictly within the topic, what is the case for resituating the Gloria as a post-communion (or thanksgiving) hymn thus redressing the musical imbalance often experienced during the opening rite of Mass?
