Binding

I always promised myself we'd (parish choir) one day sing "I bind unto myself today the strong name of the Trinity" with that gorgeous satb "Christ be with me, Christ within me . . . " before returning to the original melody for a big finish. What a spirit-lifting experience that was. I've lost/misl...

Peruvian Gloria

The Peruvian Gloria - Will the 70's never die?

I wonder did the composer realise when penning it that he/she was cursing generations yet unborn?

I jest of course (a bit)

Please don't anyone leap to its defence, it's awful.

Enjoy your break Merseysider. :)

Welcome to the post-free forums(fora ?), Hare.

Yes, it is a bit quiet isn't it? Maybe we're just setting into the period of general malaize known liturgically as Ordinary Time.

Stick with us, we talk a good job in here usually.

:D

I attended a school leavers' mass, we sang to a CD backing played over the P.A. I sat there, numbed. I would rather have heard a child or small group of people sawing away albeit inadequately on their violins, or churning out wrong notes on recorders, or third-rate organ playing, in fact anything bu...

Wot! No Ave?

I've got away with "Tell out, my soul" as an entrance hymn last Sunday 6th in Eastertide, as well as "'Great is the Lord' my soul proclaims" a week or two ago as a hymn at the Preparation of the Gifts. But as neither are "Immaculate Mary or hearts are on fire" or "Hail! Queen of Heaven" they don't c...

Merseysider wrote: "And if you're PP isn't up for building a good working relationship then I'd find another parish before you lose your sanity." Absolutleigh! In fact this was the advice given to those who entered the SSG: Composers Competition - if your abilities aren't appreciated, then find a pa...

As I don't have an organist at all can I borrow him please?

I sort of get the feeling that SOP will send him postage paid,, bound and gagged, no return address, around to your place.

Your dilemma - when you've had done with him, what'll you do with him? Think carefully before you answer. If all else fails, get him ordained.

While we're on the subject . . .

It's possible to sing that harvesttide hymn; "We plough the fields and scatter the good seed on the land" to the tune of Pinball Wizard. But more in keeping with the spirit of Vat II, you can sing "I tawt I taw a puddy tat" to the tune Diadem (but you have to adjust the lyrics thus): I tawt I taw a ...
