Re: best picks for the First Sunday Advent
Re the O Antiphons, are there settings of these anywhere? Forgive my ignorance, but although I have known about them for donkey's years - apart from O come O come Emmanuel (which was one of my favourites when I was at school - and I still like it now!) I don't know where to find them. I suppose I co...

Re: Payment of Wedding Fees
I am usually paid directly by the funeral directors (cash in a brown envelope). No problem. However, I did once dep for a friend (different parish, different diocese) where I was handed a cheque by the parish priest made out by parish (not the undertaker) and clearly the parish had taken a cut. Anyo...

Re: Service of rededication/commission of musicians, etc
Oh it did work (the italic) - I was expecting it to appear on the draft message page. Sorry. I'll know not to panic next time. Back on topic - I remember being asked to draw up a form of words for this some time ago but it was never used. Good idea though. In my church the altar servers have one - s...

Re: Service of rededication/commission of musicians, etc
Regarding When in our music God is glorified (can't get the italic thing to work), does no one know the wonderful Stanford tune 'Engleberg'? A fitting complement to Fred Pratt Green's wonderful words IMHO.

Re: Corpus Christi - the sequence
We do the Easter Day sequence (in the Latin plainsong - lovely!) and the Pentecost one to the hymn Holy Spirit, Lord of light (to 'Veni Sancte Spiritus' by Webb) which goes very well. So I thought - why not the Corpus Christi sequence to a hymn tune? I looked at the first few verses, which were 88 8...

Re neums etc - YES YES YES. Blobs and other attempts at transcribing the untranscribable are worse than useless. The proper notation gives you all you need to know. Whoever decided on blobs on five lines in the new Missal deserves to be strung up.

Re: Gloria at Mass for the War Dead on Remembrance Sunday
Well, we did sing the Gloria after all, as it was not PP who was celebrating - so that's all right then.

Re: Eulogies
Where I play, eulogies, 'poems' or whatever are read at the end of the ceremony (whether it's a Requiem Mass or simply a funeral liturgy), just before the coffin is wheeled/carried out.
