LOL!

Tell me, did you ever actually get to the end of Mass? :-)

Flippin' heck, presbyter! That post certainly makes up for the fact that no-one has posted anything for over a week. :-)

It is useful though, thanks.

.......could someone tell me where I can find this Chant Gloria by Bob Hurd, please? Sure. We found it in a collection called 'Journeysongs' (OCP Publications). It suggests an organ drone accompaniment and has a handbell arrangement but, in the absence of any handbells, we've been using a glockensp...

Reality

Last night at Mass, we had two violinists – one nine and one nineteen, there were two teenage clarinettists (and a third, slightly older ), a teenage bass guitarist (who also played the African drum for one song and droned on the organ for another) and a pianist. Two of the group also played guita...

....the prospect of a new animated avatar from Gwyn (the skipping one never really worked for me) Well, it does it for me! You go Gwyn. I'd like to nominate Gwyn for the award of 'contributor most likely to make me smile', with Merseysider a close second. And it's Merseysider who gets my vote for '...

I've been a member of the forum almost since its inception and I'd just like to say that I think it's brilliant! I enjoy it on several levels: The discussions - some of these have been very serious and thought-provoking and I've learnt a lot from contributors who are much better read and more knowle...

I'm probably going off at a tangent here, but the re-awakening of this thread reminded me of a situation in our parish a few years ago. We had a PP who not everyone liked for all sorts of reasons. He was very different from our previous PP - very money orientated, which was necessary for our parish ...

I've read it through about five times now and I still can't decide, but I'm leaning towards your first interpretation.

Then again.... :)

I'm interested in what might be possible with this CD-ROM. ..........anybody else fancy consigning the printed hymnbook to history? Now there's a thought! And a project for someone. Speaking as the person who types the words/music sheet for the assembly each week in our parish, contrabordun's idea ...

It's slightly unnerving to think that my post about visiting another parish has caused such a furore (especially since I wrote what I did out of support for a choir that I thought was going a good job but with one hand tied behind its back). And it's very sad that the said furore has caused Merseysi...

Ouch! First of all, Merseysider, I don't think everyone who is signed up to the forum is a member of the SSG. As far as I'm aware, the forum is open to anyone who chooses to sign up. I wholeheartedly agree about the bickering, but I don't have a problem with lively discussion. What irritates the pan...

Re: Choir verus Congregation

Perhaps the role of a choir is not only to facilitate and encourage the congregation to raise their voices to God, but also to facilitate silence and contemplation. What do you all think? I think I agree with this. And I think many choirs do just this, by taking time to begin pieces, not rushing in...

Ah, so there's hope that I'll receive mine yet then! After Vox's post, I wondered whether it had been incorrectly addressed to me in the States and and whether I'd have to fly over (all expenses paid by the SSG, of course) to fetch it back! 'Tis very annoying when folk are talking about what's in it...
