Re: Pipe Organs and Organists - Dying out?

How very sad. There are only 2 Catholics in my organists association and I play for the Anglicans. I would dearly love to play for Mass but even expenses are not paid. I know of parishes locally with good organs where CDs are used. THe stories my Catholic organist friend tell are awful and I told hi...

Re: Cremation, scattering, etc.

Yes it will be ignored. And why should people be made to feel guilty?

Last Night of the proms

Some members may have spotted us at the Last night. At the Last night of the Proms Liz and I had the great honour of placing the chaplet on the bust of Sir Henry Wood at the beginning of the concert! Liz has been going to the Proms since she was 14 and I have been there since 1973. Both of us have s...

Re: SSG Assembly - 14/15 October in Liverpool

Sorry to have missed this but as Provincial President of the Catenians Province 7 we had our provincial weekend on the Isle of Wight. Mass was at Quarr Abbey which was lovely apart from the celebrant the Prior leaving us after the first reading. Where had he gone? To turn the sound system on! I was ...

Re: How accessible is your church?

Westminster cathedral has ramps up to the front but if the middle doors are closed for Mass one might have trouble getting through the side doors. The same applies to getting through the doors to the toilets. The Anglican church where I now play is dreadul. Steps up from the road, steps into the por...

Re: Gloria

I do think dioceses need to give some guidance about the Gloria. The Chrism Mass is the obvious place and deanery confirmations as well. While Haugen's Mass of remembrance works with a strong choir what might work in a parish with limited resources? Suggestions welcomed as I am planning a Provincial...

Thanks Southern Comfort and the thought that one might not be anointed is a sad one indeed. :)

Re: Happy Birthday

Of course you assume that all want to sing Happy birthday and actually can sing! Perhaps a better solution is a clear melody line and others can add harmonies and descents? :D

Re: Bishop's consecration

As I understand it we are all baptised to be priests, kings and prophets and that is exactly what Bishop Paul Hendricks preached the other day. So I do not understand the idea of only bishops having "full priesthood" -clericalism again!
