Re: Responses to the Prayer of the Faithful

We sing a refrain to the intercessions on those days when the Gospel is about asking something of the Lord. On Good Friday we sing "O, Lord hear us, Jesus Saviour of the world" – Chris Walker with one letter changed!

Isn't the latter a sackable offence?

Re: Second Sunday of Advent

Yes, annoying when you see your work dismantled.
There is no good reason not to sing the Eucharistic Acclamations
– and plenty of good reasons why they should be sung by all.

Re: Second Sunday of Advent

Well, here's our humble offering:

O Comfort my people – Waddell
Stay awake! – Walker
Ps 84: Come, O Lord – Baty
Alleluia Veni Emmanuel – Baty
Litany of the Word – Farrell
Bakhita Acclamations – Baty
Advent Fraction Song – Baty

Perhaps too much Baty in there :?

If it is right, Hare.
Remember, those prospers are only proper to Year A.

Re: Fit for purpose

Southern Comfort wrote:The piling-up of adjectives, descriptors, etc is a peculiarly Latin trait that does not work well in English.
I just let it wash over me. These days, Mass may as well be in Latin because the current translation is certainly not in a language I recognise.

Confirmation at the Vigil

Can someone who is baptised (but has never practised) be confirmed by the PP at the Easter Vigil? Or can the PP only confirm those who are being received at this time?

Difficult to type as the hand you so vigorously shook in July is still recovering, but sending you every good wish. :D

Re: Notation software

We've just received Sibelius 7.5 in work – came out earlier this year, I believe, but have yet to explore it.
I buy most of my software from http://www.studica.com
They offer academic and church discounts.
Also worth searching the programme you need on Google shopping, adding "academic pricing".

Re: Payment of Wedding Fees

Not such a huge problem here as, between our three churches,we have just two or three weddings a year. However, we have around 150+ funerals. Here there's never an issue as the undertaker pays the organist. Perhaps if undertakers doubled up as wedding planners....

Re: Iraqi Christians: bidding prayer suggestion

Or, more simply:
We pray for Christians and other faith communities persecuted in Mosul and elsewhere in Iraq.
We do have a habit of laying down conditions or specifying outcomes in our prayers.

Re: Organ nightmares

Yep. Interestingly, the assembly more or less ignored him, although might have been more to do with his teachery attitude than his attire.
