Re: Triduum Planning
At the last singers rehearsal on Sunday, I spotted thet we would have been singing "Like the (old?) dear yearns for running streams...." at the Vigil.

Re: Triduum Planning
How are all your arrrangements going?
In the last week, I have lost one of my Psalmists/Cantors (but there are another three, so we will cope) and my organist for Thursday, which has necessitated some changes.

Re: Triduum Planning
I once worked in a parish where you couldn't be on the rota for reader or the rota for minister of communion until you had done the training that the PP prescribed. This worked very well. His rationale was that if you couldn't be bothered to be as good as possible then you shouldn't be ministering ...

Re: Triduum Planning
The very difficult issue we suffer from is that readers are very reluctant to practice, so when everyone else - cleaners, sacristan. servers, flowers and musicians are at the top of their game ..... readers are often ill-prepared and stumble and mispronounce (I am still recovering from a Good Frida...

Triduum Planning
We had our (two) parishes' Lent and Easter planning meeting a couple of weekends ago, and our singers will have the first rehearsal in another couple of weekends. We may have a Baptism, Deo gratias, which means that I can dust off my Litany music. (I haven't sung a Litany of Saints since the Ordinat...

Re: Summer School 2023
I thought that this year's Summer School was very good indeed, with possibly the nicest atmosphere of any that I have attended.
Hearty congrats to the organisers, workshop leadeers and speakers.

Re: Festal Greetings!
He is risen indeed.
Repose is certainly most welcome. I eventually had breakfast on Sunday at 1:30pm. I was running on adrenaline.
But it was worth it - we celebrated the Sacred Triduum most fittingly.

Hear, hear.
I have, most relutantly, had to do that under a previous regime.

It would also help if it were published in modern notation as well as Gregorian.

Re: Communion Songs
It's certainly not well known, from what I can tell. Before I was aware of Communion Songs I was never comfortable with hymn singing during the Communion Procession - I find it intrusive to be expected to open my hymnal and certainly can not do that when actually going up to receive. I began to intr...

Christ is Risen!
I am SOOOO tired today - there is no option but to relax. I suspect that I have been living off adrenaline the last few days.
One cockup but otherwise all went very well indeed, with lots of very positive and appreciative comments.
