Re: Extraordinary Rite News

I the the issue re other sacraments is covered in the letter by the statement that 'the liturgical books promulgated by the saintly Pontiffs Paul VI and John Paul II, in conformity with the decrees of Vatican Council II, constitute the unique expression of the lex orandi of the Roman Rite.' Southern...

Living Eucharist

Nice things were said at the SSG Zoom meeting tonight about the weekly postings on Living Eucharist https://livingeucharist.wordpress.com/ - which explore different aspects of the Eucharist - - for which many thanks. It was also observed that trying to locate postings in the series of weekly posting...

Re: Women in 'Minor Orders'

There is a certain 'confusion' of language in alan29's email. I hope the question marks mean its ok to offer some clarification (at least at the level of the theory of things!) If lay people do these things at present it is by virtue of their baptism .... why "clericalize" this lay right? ...

Re: Organist contract

Many thanks to all After much negotiation with diocesan HR it was agreed to establish a service level agreement (similar to that offered as standard by musicians union). It means no official holiday allowance or sickness, and that organist takes responsibility for tax etc, but allows for subbing exp...

Organist contract

Any help available?

I am trying to set up organist contract but local HR is saying no subbing clause allowed if we have an employment contract per se. We could have a service level agreement but then organist gets no holiday or sick pay.

Any guidance would be helpful!

Parish Liturgy and Music Internship

I am not sure if the Society has a policy on the advertising of posts. But if I am infringing rules then I am sure someone will tell me. The parish of St John's Wood is establishing two year long internships, one to support music and liturgy, and the other to work with young people. I envisage the i...

Re: Bishops fix date for ending old music settings

The Society has produced a couple of resources to assist with this next step in the introduction of the Missal translation.
They will appear on the Society's own site very shortly, but in the meantime they can be accessed at http://rcdow.org.uk/diocese/liturgy/news/singing/

Re: Post Baptismal Catechesis

I think it would be more true to say that they see the importance of maintaining the small community as well as integrating. But the small community is experienced in the wider context too - especially in its relationship to local parish, bishop, and N-C family. Clearly they are not alone, as SC say...

Re: Post Baptismal Catechesis

An interesting phrase used by Francesco re POST baptismal catechesis, was that it provided the form for the continuing conversion of the initiates - a mode for engaging with their experience of renewal in Christ. But whether pre or post baptism, the important thing, and I am sure that Ian agrees, is ...

I promised to provide a link to the RCIA network's blog for those interested in learning more about work being done with RCIA in England and Wales. The link is http://www.rcia.org.uk/blog/ I wonder what others present at yesterday's talk by Fr Francesco made of the emphasis on post-baptismal cateche...
