Farewell

Almost exactly eleven years ago I welcomed you all to a new discussion forum: this one! Today I say farewell – as a moderator, that is; I will still comment from time to time, but under my own name. It has been, as they say, a fun ride. There have been a few bumps on the way but, generally speaking,...

Re: Leeds area new centre

You are correct, of course, Phil, but, as you say, before, who knows? My own parish has been marking time (i.e. doing very little) regarding outreach and evangelisation for over a decade. Now, with a new PP and a renewed push from Rome, things are changing. But underpinning all this is the imperativ...

Re: Leeds area new centre

Thanks, Oops. I rather think that discipleship (and evangelisation) are going to be moving up the RC agenda somewhat if Pope Francis continues to urge us to turn outwards – so your post is timely.

Re: Notation software

So reports of Sibelius's demise were exaggerated then? - is the Sibelius/Finale debate still running? Yes, they were. Both programs are capable of producing very fine results. I suggest that you download the free 30-day trial versions and draw your own conclusions. I would urge you to avoid the &qu...

See www.benedicamus.org.uk for more information.

I have a copy and think it is a very fine piece of work.

Re: A new direction in Liturgy?

Indeed he has - and not to the more important archdiocese of Madrid either. This is significant in several ways, not least because heads of Roman Congregations have not hitherto expected to "go home" but rather to retire to some sinecure or other in Rome. In other words, a senior Roman app...

Note for the Moderator: not sure why the number eight followed by a bracket turns into a "Cool" emoticon? This sounds like a preference setting. Try this: go into your User Control Panel via the link near the top of the page; select Board Preferences; make sure 'display smilies as images'...

On balance, and given that the topic is unlikely to develop very positively, I have decided to delete this topic as requested. Apologies for the inevitable collateral damage. Please note that if you want to complain about a post you can click the 'report' icon (exclamation mark in a triangle) to bri...

Re: Liturgical Tourism

Benidorm is a place not known for its culture in the usual sense. But they have restored their baroque church and put in a new 3 manual neo-classical organ. Unfortunately there is no organist to play it so they are delighted when organists turn up! The congregation really sing here. Perhaps they ho...

Re: Long-standing music director axed as £1m debt forces cut

While these are, no doubt, legitimate questions, I am not sure that those who know the answers to them will provide them here. Moreover, hypothesising and speculating might take us (and the Society) into dangerous waters. Accordingly, I would ask that any subsequent posters to this thread bear this ...
